jezmez68 (332), Chesterton, Indiana, USA Aug 9, 2008 Oh yes. I do love doppelbock. Sorry that I avoided grabbing this for so long. Nice brown pour out the bottle with a better than average head. Smells of malt and fruit. Tastes of biscuit, caramel, and even a bit of licorice. I can’t imagine how good this is on tap. pj1855 (154), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Aug 8, 2008 Clear golden color. Small white head that quickly disappears. Aroma is very sweet. Malts and Caramal. Failrly good palate. Starts off sweet, some spice and finishing with a taste of alcohol and some hops. Not bad overall but I do think the alcohol is a little to prevalant at times. Borresteijn (1349), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 8, 2008 On tap @ De Geuzen en Café Gollem, last winter. Amber colour, big creamy head. Aroma of sweet malts, caramel. Flavour is sweet and malty, dough, caramel. The first few sips are very sweet, afterwards the nice soft bitter finish comes out. Very nutricious and tasteful beer. RunDWP (203), San Jose, California, USA Aug 6, 2008 22 oz bottle. Nice caramel, malty aroma. Strong, musty tea flavors overpowered the caramel malty and slight brandy flavors. Maybe I had an old bottle in the States but the flavors seemed out of balance. The Etruscan (304), Tuscany, Italy Aug 4, 2008 Off white full lasting head. Dark anber colour. Aroma is malty, fruity (raisins) with light caramel, wooden and alcohol notes. Flvor is malty too with dark fruits, honey and caramel tones, ending in a more balanced, slightly fruity finish. Medium bodied. Hansen (2235), Randers, Denmark Aug 3, 2008 Dark amber colour and clear. Has a golden head, mostly lasting. Aroma is sweet, caramel. Flavor is heavy sweet. Syrup texture. JaPe (69), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 3, 2008 Man this is the best German beer I have ever had. Carmel flavors work with lively carb to mask the heavy alcohol. makes this smooth and easy drink. lt has an amber colour ... which is pleasant surprise because one would expect a really dark colour if you where sipping this out of the bottle before you poured it. Good stuff. . Marsiblursi (1631), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 30, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a reddish brown with a small creamy off-white head. The aroma is medium malty/syrupy and light hoppy with tones of caramel, syrup, dark (rye) bread, vanilla-ish marshmallows, light honey, light marzipan, light toasted almonds, and flowers. Some dried fruits and brown sugar in the undertones. The flavour is medium to full malty and light hoppy with tones of caramel, syrup, dark bread and flowers alongside a light touch of dried fruits. Some alcohol is present in the flavour. Medium to full sweet and light bitter. The mouthfeel is somewhat creamy but too clean/sterile with a light sticky touch. The finish is light numbing from the alcohol with some earthy bread-like tones lingering. Medium to full bodied.
