COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Strong sweet malt aroma. Brown sugar. Maybe some fruit. Very nice. Appearance is a dark brown with a hint of orange. Taste is sweet. Very nice. Not cloying. Earthy herbal hops present. Hint of banana maybe apple. Slight roastiness. Palate is medium. Nice malty sweet with a bit of roast and hidden fruit lingers nicely with excellent aftertaste. Overall this is a very nice beer. Great drinker even at this ABV. The best of the style IMO.

One of the best Doppelbocks in the world. It is really smooth, but not one of the the very sweet kind, like animator or andechs doppel bock dunkel. Its rich and dark and with a really strong palate. If you like doppelbock you have to try it!

Bottle, Blarney Stone, Menorca. Dark red, heavily malt flavoured beer. Very strong alcoholic taste, bordering on acidic, but in a good way. Vineous nose, with a hint of spirit about it.

This was a nice traditional German doppelbock. The taste was very smooth and I enjoyed it.

Bottled. Pours dark orange/brown with a frothy offwhite head. Aromas of chocolate, malt and brown sugar. Flavors on the tongue are the same. The beer finishes nicely, but leaves you wanting more. Overall a very well balanced beer, with a decent finish.

Appearance: light for a DB; coppery orange with a short, tan bubbly head that quickly dissipates; no discernable lacing. Aroma: again, on the light side for a DB; maybe some white raisins/grapes to go with the typical roasted malts, molasses and brown sugar; a bit of ginger snaps in there too. Taste: rich and sweet, with loads of malty caramel; a very faint hint of medicinal bitter hops. Finish: rich and sweet, with loads of malty caramel; a very faint hint of medicinal bitter hops. Notes: I love a doppelbock, but this wasn’t my favorite. Flavor was pretty good, but the mouth was very oily, and the finish was not nearly as dry and crisp as I prefer.

Pours a nice copper like color with a small but noisy head (lots of bubbles popping). Taste is very malty, feels slightly viscous in the mouth and finishes slightly bitter.

Pours attractive dark orange to brown with lightly creamy head; smells rich, sweet; taste mix of bock malts, caramel, sweet
