Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Dark Ruby color, light beige head, decent lacing. Nose is caramel and nuts. Palate is caramel, malt, sweet, nutty, brandy. Not too bad.

Copper-gold pour with little head. Aroma is bready, nutty, spicy and lots of caramel malt. Rich caramel malt flavor that has notes of bread, brandy, nuts, spice, and dark fruits. Sticky medium body with soft carbonation.

A very orange beer on pour into a pint glass. It smells of sweet malts. It tasted of sweet malts. A very good beer that is very well balanced. Second take: I really didn’t get bowled over with the nose on this one after pouring it into a pint glass. It had a small head with a dark amber body. It is smooth and creamy and you don’t pick up the alcohol levels at all. All in all not a bad as it is very smooth - but nearly flat . ADDED A POINT

This beer pours a deep copper with some head. It has a very sweet, malty aroma. The taste is also very sweet and malty....almost syrupy. The body is medium-heavy with low carbonation. This is a good beer and a fine example of a double bock.

I was expecting a bit more body to this doppelbock. It is good nonethless, but a bit too smooth for the style. Pours almost pure black with a nice head.

A very bready beer that had a generally pleasing flavor. The main problem i had with this beer is in the palate which i just found unpleasant. I may try picking this up again to see if i like it any better

35cl Bottle . Very beatiful amber color with a big and low duration head. Toasted malt and caramel aroma. Full bodied and low carbonated. Sweet and toasted malt flavor with notes of caramel, alcohol is not perceived. It’s a very balanced beer !
