KimJohansen (6676), Copenhagen V, Denmark May 4, 2008 Deep amber with medium beige head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel notes. Sweet flavor with notes of roasted malt, caramel and bread. carruthm (1112), Seattle, Washington, USA May 2, 2008 dark amber with a small white head that leaves little to no lacing behind. smells like a brown ale but with a spicier taste of clove mixed in. psycho11 (22), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA May 2, 2008 I love this stuff. My favorite place to drink this is at the Rathskeller when Polka Boy is playing.
It’s smooth on the palate, high in alcohol and well balanced all the way through. It’ not the best Double Bock I’ve had, but it’s one of the tops.
Nice thick head and dark in color. Full of malt, carmel and bread flavor. TheDog (350), Aarhus, Denmark May 1, 2008 Bottle. Dark amber colour with nice beige head. Aroma and taste of sugary malt, fruit and berry, bread and caramel. Very balanced with medium carbonation. A great classic. ditmier (1021), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 30, 2008 2008 Bottle - Pours a beautiful amber with a small tannish head. Aroma is powerful yeast, sugary malt and dried fruit. Flavour is drier than the aroma would suggest, but still is a bit cloying. The profile is pretty simple and leaves a weird feeling on the sides of my mouth, Also, there is a metallic nuance that I thought would go away, but stuck around and made this pretty hard to drink... toddkrem (78), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Apr 27, 2008 Light colored beer. Easy to drink. semi sweet, and refreshing. Smells sweet medium carbonation. ok beer. Lothore (276), California, USA Apr 27, 2008 A- Pours a deep reddish copper color with a small, brownish off-white head.
S- There is a subtle sweet smell. Hints of dark fruits. Very laid back but pleasant nose.
T- Tastes of darkened wheat, with an almost candy-like sweetness.
M- This brew has fairly light carbonation however it is somewhat thick. It leaves a syrupy coating in my mouth that feels a bit unpleasant.
D- This is fairly easy to drink taste wise but because of the way it coats your mouth i’d have to say drinkability suffers. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Apr 26, 2008 50cl bottle. Clear dark red-amber with a big fluffy head. Smells a little doughy with some breadcrust, caramel, and light metal. The flavor is big malts with lots of plum and caramel. Very clean and crisp, with no apparent alcohol. Full bodied with small, crisp bubbles. A little boring, as I tend to find the style, but very clean and drinkable.
