COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Clear amber w smaller white head, slight retention, minimal lacing... very malty aroma, slightly sweet, seems like its gonna be sticky, some dark fruits present... moderately lively, not very sweet, lingering warming sensation, full bodied as a result... malty flavor, almost a touch bland... decent, but not my favorite doppelbock...

On tap. Pours orangish brown with small white head; aroma is malty sweet, caramelish and slightly bready, and also quite fruity; flavor is also malty sweet and slightly fruity with a gentle hop touch in the finish, but also quite sharply alcoholic and not quite as full-bodied as I like my doppelbocks to be. But not bad overall.

bottled, light brown viscous pour with tan head, sweet malt aroma with lots of spice and dark fruit notes, tastes of sweet malt without being cloying with light roast and spice notes, full bodied with light carbonation with residual spice and roast on palate

sweet & malty aroma. Pours amber with a thin tan head. Rich & warm in the mouth. The malt sweetness cries out for a salty, roasted chicken. Very delicious.

Murky red pour with thin white head. Slight scent of malt. Taste is nuts and bread, not as deep in flavor a Celebrator, but good.

Bottle. A - Clear amber garnet color with an average sized foamy off-white head with average retention and a good layer of foamy lacing. S - Sweet caramel and apple malt with some bready smell. Some nutty smell and a subtle touch of alcohol. Lots of sweet malt. T - A lot of sweet caramel malt. Also a good amount of apple, pear, and dates. Some nutty flavors, but it doesn’t really bring an earthy taste along with it. A touch of spice is also present (mostly cinnamon like). Toasty flavor in the middle of the sip. Finishes with a slightly tart berry/dark fruit taste. Also a touch of warming alcohol on the finish. M - Slightly above medium body with moderate carbonation. Quite smooth and fairly refreshing. D - Good drinkability. Of course it is a touch sweet and pretty malty, so you have to be in the mood for that, but it is fairly balanced and not cloying. Easy to drink and although there is a slight alcohol warming, the alcohol taste is hidden quite well. Notes: Solid doppelbock. It didn’t necessarily blow me away but it was very nice. A lot of malt and sweetness. Definitely recommend trying this, especially if you are in the mood for a full, malty beer.
