Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Dark pour, roasted malts and fruits. Finishes very nicely with just a hint of alcohol burn.

Pours copper brown with medium sized beige-white head with some lacing. Caramell with raisins and dried prunes in aroma. Flavor is very sweet and full of toasted caramell and dark fruits. Lovely thick body with a long lasting warming aftestaste and bitter finish. Perhaps a bit too sweet to get a better score.

Clear dark amber with a biege head. Nicely balanced, some sweet malts and some darker malts as well. Very malty, like drinking bread...with a nice yeasty alcohol twist in the finish. Medium body, feels like 5.x% ABV, not ~8%. Warms as it hits the belly and cheeks. A very, very nice doppelbock (since it’s the granddaddy of ’em all) but not quite as perfect as Celebrator.

Pours a lasting ring of beige head and a clear, copper body. Smells of ripe fruit and dough. Flavor is banana, dough, caramel. Some bitterness on the finish.

Have had from a 12oz bottle and on tap. A nice rounded and balanced double bock with a sweet finish. One of the best examples.

Bottle at German restraunt-Very light and easy drinking. Yet, it packed a punch. Golden in color with medium head. Great malt flavor. Highly recomended by Coloradomatty!

A really nice beer, with a good, foamy head and a gorgeous amber colour. Aroma was fabulous (the malt?) as was the taste. Rich, and almost sweet in taste, this was a treat to drink.
