The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Brownish red pour with a tiny bit of haziness. Sweet malt aroma with a bit of roasted grain. Tastes of roasted grain and caramel with a bit of bitterness coming through.

Color is a dark red, minimal to no head. Very bready and sweet aroma. Flavor is caramel sweetness, bready, some dark fruits. Solid beer. It’s a pretty well-done doppelbock.

Deep red and dark color. Strong, intense and bitter taste, with fruit touches. Abundant body, which makes it a very consistent beer.

Reddish brown, hazy with lots of miniscule suspended particles; no head beyond a thin white ring; carbonation looks low, almost flat; aroma is gorgeous sweet malt and yeast, plummy, raisins; this takes me back to Belgian Christmas beers of a few months back; taste is toasty bready malts, followed by sticky sweet stewed fruits - plums, oranges, apricots; the candy peel thing; definitely sweeter than average; long, sweet boozy finish; tastes like a Christmas beer too; good, but not as good as Celebrator, but what is?

reddish and clear with rapidly fading head that leaves modest ring and no lacing. Malty and toasted aromas with slightly bready, yeasty notes and noticeable alcohol. Sweet, medium carbonation.

White head disappearing quickly. Clear red amber. Alcohol warmth. Caramely. Not as sweet as expected. Balanced. Good but not my favorite style.
