COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Bouteille 330ml. .

500 ml bottle, bought in Germany. Poured into a snifter glass. ABV 7,9% Deep amber colour, hazy body. One finger of off-white head, with average retention and almost no lacing. Aroma consists of mostly caramel, with some nice chocolate malts. The taste is where this beer shines. Lots of chocolate, lots of coffee, a nice light bitter taste which becomes even more bitter on the aftertaste and invites you for one more sip. Medium to full on the body, good amount of carbonation. At first I wasn’t impressed by the appearance or the smell, but the taste was so good that it made up for everything else. Nice beer, recommended.

Bought a pint a local store for $1.25. Light brown/ruby in color, cloudy appearance with a tan head. Aroma is malt dominant, toffee, carmel, and toasted bread. Taste also is of roasted malts. Creamy mouthful, with a slight alcohol burn. Good beer, but would not seek out.

Clean dark amber color, medium creamy head, which disappears totally in couple of minutes. Light aroma of malt, caramel and some coffee. Taste is bitter sweet, with caramel malts, notes of dark fruits and spices, mildly bitter finish with gentle alcohol hit and hoppy aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. Flavorful and balanced beer.

Beautiful dark reddish brown color, thick foamy head, with rich malty flavors blended with molasses, caramel and a little alcohol taste at the end. Hearty, full-bodied. Buy some! Delicious.

Poured an amber color with some carbonation and a small head. Aroma was of bread, a little metalic and a little banana. After it warmed up, the metallic aroma dissipated. Taste was sweet, but not too sweet with a medium body. Definitely a beer I will be purchasing again and sharing with friends.

February 19, 2013 - bottle from Randall’s. Light brown pour with nice amount of head. Aroma was sweet malt, dark fruit and alcohol. Taste was consistent with aroma maybe a caramel and chocolate mix and surprisingly noticeable alcohol with this clocking in at 7.9%. Medium to full body and light carbonation.
