dkachur (2318), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Feb 8, 2008 Bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville. Pours a reddish copper with small but persistent head. Aroma of caramel and a little hoppiness. Texture is thin. Taste is caramel and sour cherry. Pwn3d (1040), Manhattan, New York, USA Feb 8, 2008 bottle same as image. Fruit nose: apple and faint citrus, caramel and slight alc mouth (not a fan of this), little hoppy. While its got a good deal going on, all in all its a bit forgettable. Extra .1 overall for alc content. slimchill (773), Austin, Texas, USA Feb 4, 2008 Updated: Feb 12, 2008Draught. Beautiful oak-amber color with absolutely no head. Aromas of copper, caramel, wood, and citrus. First sip brings caramel and oak with a smoothness that demands a second. Cherries in the aftertaste that define the second sip and a mellow hop finishes it all off. Thick and chewy palate. Complete, balanced, wonderful. JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Feb 4, 2008 12oz bottle - clear medium amber color with small quickly dissapearing off white head. Aroma is full of light cherry, toasted malt, light caramel and vanilla, hint of lemon, slight roastyness. Flavor has fair amount of chewy malts, light caramel, subtle but notable alcohol presence, with a level of bitterness that is somewhat surpirsing considering the sweetness of the aroma and flavor. oreogobbler (217), Austin, Texas, USA Feb 3, 2008 Draught: Copper liquorish and citrus aroma.
Amber Brown no head. Great appearance.
Black Cherry flavor fallowed by grain and alcohol aroma. Rough Palate: It’s biting from the tip of my tongue to the back of my throat. But a very well balanced beer. ColonelFlander (6), SanDieattle, California, USA does not count Feb 1, 2008 Any time I can get my hands on something referred to as "liquid bread", with a ABV of 7.90%, I’m going to be happy...
This dopplebock poured into my large tulip glass with a rich amber color. The glass I used allowed for a great, light tan, rich foamy head. It stayed around for enough time to really aid the great nose of malt and lingering streaks of toffee. Had a wonderful heavy malt taste, with slight bits of toffee, and fresh wheat bread with honey. This beer, for being so substantial, really had a very drinkable, medium bodied mouth feel. This beer is pairing great with my aged white cheddar, but don’t rule out the schnitzel. Never rule out the schnitzel. I’ll leave the fasting to the Monks...Enjoy jwedwards74 (6), Merriam, Kansas, USA does not count Jan 28, 2008 This double bock is a medium body, slick feel, soft carbonation, clear and red. This beer has little to no Aroma which was a little disappointing, but overall an excellent Double from Germany since 1634. Scauca (408), Lovere, Italy Jan 27, 2008 Deep brown with a nice but disappearing head. Sweet malty, fruity, somewhat earthy or floral. Quite cloying in the end.
