Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

This double bock is a medium body, slick feel, soft carbonation, clear and red. This beer has little to no Aroma which was a little disappointing, but overall an excellent Double from Germany since 1634.

Deep brown with a nice but disappearing head. Sweet malty, fruity, somewhat earthy or floral. Quite cloying in the end.

Amber color. a good dopplebock! malt flavor little bit of a lingering aftertaste. Dopplebocks are fantastic and this is a good beer!

Dark amber with a very short lived head. Sweet malty aroma with a trace of molasses. The flavour is also sweet and malty with a light note of caramel, this sweetness is quickly balanced by a decent hop bitterness and a good deal of alcohol. Medium to full bodied.

Pours a rich caramel, with a light-caramel tinted creamy head. Aroma of fruity, caramelized malts and nailpolish. Rich sweet malt flavor, alcohol burns a little, really poorly presented. Odd bitter aftertaste. I dont know if I’d call this superbly balanced. Who am I to argue with "world-renowned" though...

Poured amber with a creamy head. Nose of sweet malts and caramel. Taste is very malty and sweet. Didn’t realize this beer was 7.5% when drinking, very easy drinker. Medium bodied with plent of carbonation. Not my favorite style, but pretty good.

12oz. Bottle: Sweet aroma. Smells very malty with hints of oak and caramel. Poured amber in color with a medium-sized, dense, creamy, tan head that lasted throughout. Flavor is sweet and malty. Tastes of malts, caramel, wood, and more malts. Medium body. Slick texture. Soft carbonation. Malt finish. Overall, way too malty, and not "superbly balanced."

Poured brown amber with a slight head that disipated quickly. Smelled maple, malt a twinge of alchohol. Taste maple brown sugar and caramel... slight alchohol taste. I enjoy it and would get it again.
