Haslinger (640), Syracuse, New York, USA Jan 7, 2008 Very good aroma. Impressed by the sweetish almost deep taste. I enjoyed this one a lot. Would buy again lax7584 (31), Deer Park, New York, USA Jan 6, 2008 Had a sweet smell and poured a dark amber with many aromas. It was a heavy drink I though but was very satisfying. jimel001 (34), Los Angeles, California, USA Jan 6, 2008 Sweet, malty and with a great aftertaste. This is the original doppelbock and one of the best I’ve ever had. hillfiiiiire (283), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jan 3, 2008 Smelled very sweet and malty. Poured a dark amber with very little head to speak of. It tasted just like it smelled with an alcohol finish, and had no real body to it. grikmok (92), Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA Jan 2, 2008 Poured to an off white thin head, amber colored. Aroma of yeast. Initial taste of sweet and yeasty. Not much body. Alcoholic finish. Good tasting beer. Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA Jan 2, 2008 My favorite German brewer here.
Pours dark amber color. Not as dark as the Celebrator but still a nice color. No head to speak of.
Smells very malty and sweet, just like a doppelbock should.
Very rich malty taste with a hint of sweetness and a trace of alcohol as well.
Very good example of the doppelbock style. I don’t think its as good as the Celebrator but there aren’t many beers that are. Probably my second favorite doppelbock. jhliesen (403), West Melbourne, Florida, USA Jan 1, 2008 Bottle-Good solid beer, full amber color with a small head. The aroma was malty with caramel. The taste followed in the same manner with some sweetness bordering the malts. Produce place 1.79 fakepurseninja (772), Washington, USA Jan 1, 2008 Sweet, heavy malt - very hefty drink. Myriad of flavors and aromas. Warning; do not pair with smoked salmon dip. Bad times.
