Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Poured from a 12oz bottle and served in a Bell’s dimpled mug. This dopplebock poured a clear, caramel color with a ton of carbonation dancing inside the glass. A one-finger thick head of beige foam lasted throughout. A touch of slippery lace was left behind. The aroma of the beer consisted of lightly roasted caramel malts, bread, and nuts. The flavor was made up of caramel, vanilla, sweet ripe fruits, and a mild noble hop note. The mouthfeel was full-bodied with a good dose of aggressive carbonation. A straightforward beer. Very well crafted and to the point.

Pours a nice copper color with a lot of foam that quickly settles down and stablizes to 1 inch that lasts a while. The brew smells great like its been brewed very slowly, LOL. The taste is sweet and bland malty. The finish is very clean.

12 oz. bottle pours a clear ruby color with a tan head. Sweet cinnamon roll smell. Lightly carbonated with a rich, creamy mouthfeel. Mildly sweet taste of milk chocolate, molasses, spices. Finishes with a spicy alcohol tang. This brew smells way better than it tastes. jan 2001

500ml. red/amber color pours with a brief sandy head. loads of malty sweetness and caramel with a hint of musty hops. clean and malty. brown sugar, earth and a touch of toast that appears just before the finish. noble hops come through to make the finish crisp. very different from most other dopples i’ve tried. it’s the closest to a regular bock. just beefed up. not my favorite but still good.
