COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

From a 500mL Bottle. Mostly transparent, dark honey amber color with a thin layer of small bubbled, off-white head. Intense Munich malt aroma, brimming with notes of raisin, plum, and grapey melanoidins. Hintes of toffee and cherry gumdrop. Medium-full bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a rich, chewy maltiness. Melanoidins. Lots of Munich malt. Liquid grape beer juice with lots of gumdrop and raisin. A noticeable alcohol warmth comes through in the finish, and while it isn’t hot, it prematurely shortens up the malt melanoidin parade that lingers on the palate in the finish. A classic doppebock.

Another German beer I’ve really been enjoying lately. Nice smooth drinker with a very creamy malt mouthfeel only interrupted by a nice nuttiness. Maybe a slight bit of hops in the finish. Good stuff.

Great doppelbock. Nice malty roasted barley flavor. Caramel, coffee flavor with a creamy finish.

Extremely smooth on the palate, with cream flavors remaining on the aftertaste. Excellent beer.

I had mixed feelings when looking for a new beer today, but I went with this based on it’s description. Well, unfortunately I succumbed to great marketing, as this was less than great. It has a watery mouthfeel, and some slight sweetness on the finish. It’s slightly dark, very German, and at best a decent brew. Oh well.

Bottle. Great beer. Pours a darker amber color. Thought it would be darker but no. Decent sized head. Aroma is sweet malts, roasted caramel and chocolate. Taste is nuts and some alcohol. Very good

Poured Dark Amber Color, wasnt expecting that. 1 finger head that went away quickly. Really nice aroma, kinda nutty, kinda sweet. Lots of flavor in this one for sure. Getting more of that nutty flavor, some bitterness but well balanced. Not getting as much chocolatey flavor as im use to with a double bock, but this one is still pretty darn good. Overall this is one solid brew. And if im using a value scale this one I would give it an A+, but take price out of the equation and this is a solid b+ maybe an A for me!

...bottle. Poured a nice looking darkish orange amber, with a small white head that for some reason didn’t last. On the nose was lots of caramel malt, hops, and a little hint of spice. Flavor was mainly malt, with nice nutty overtones, and the hops. Very well balanced, and easy to drink. Body seemed medium, went down well and had that nice Paulaner consistancy. Very low carbonation, finished dry with hoppy notes, and just a hint of alcohol. Was pretty damn good.
