It poured far lighter and had far less rich sweetness and fruitiness of any dopplebock I’ve ever had. It certainly is worlds different from Celebrator or Maximator or even Optimator. This tastes and looks more like a regular bock than a dopple. As a bock, I’d give it high marks, but it gets bumped down some for just not living up to the style. I find it hard to believe this is #6 in style. Anyway, the beer poured a golden brown with a slight amber hue, crystal clear with moderate amounts of head. The beer smells like a bock and tastes like a bock. This beer could use a bit more carbonation, a bit more hops and a bit more depth...a bit more of everything. It’s good, but nothing to rush out and buy again. Maria (6207), Thisted, Denmark
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 3, 2007 Mahogany with a nice head. The aroma has notes of malt and hops. The mouthfeel is smooth. The initial impressions in the flavour are sweet and malty with notes of dark fruit, but then comes a nice bitterness along as a good counterweight. It’s a smooth and nice doppel-bock, and my husband is very fond of it. sneezey (110), Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA

Malty aroma with some caramel. Flavor is sweet with firm maltiness and caramel. Medium to full body and a somewhat syrupy mouthfeel. Very nice beer. kp (8399), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 31, 2007 This beer has less flavor than the other doppelbocks I have tried, but it is well balanced. It is very smooth and dangerously drinkable, and I would really like to try it on tap. I put this one about even with the Optimator, but a peg below the Celebrator or Aventinus.
