Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Pours a deep copper/brown with a dense, fluffy head and a delicious aroma of caramel and malt. Tastes slightly bitter at first with a caramel and toffee taste, finishing with a balanced malty aftertaste. Prost!

If you are into really strong beer with a great dark and rich taste, this is what you want. Coming again soon to a Rodney near you.

12 ounce bottle from a six pack I bought. Amber with a small off-white head that doesn’t last long. Smell is caramel malt and notes of fruit and toasted malt. Taste is sweet, but not too sweet - caramel and brown sugar. There is a slight hop bitterness finish, but this beer is really all about the malt. The mouthfeel is nice. It is full bodied and smooth, but without being syrupey, which I don’t like.

Bottle - Amber color, caramel and cherry aroma, Taste of caramel with slight hint of cherry. Very palatable with a smooth finish. Expected this to be stronger due to being a doppelbock but didn’t expect the feeling to last as long as it did. Drink a few of these in a short time span and expect to fell it for a few hours afterward.

Clearish reddish amber colored beer with off white head. Smell is sweet, sour malt, kind of like a maarzen or heller bock style smell. Taste is deep strong malt, a touch of bitterness and a definite noticeable alcohol taste that really detracts from the beer. Alcohol is more noticeable as it sits and really makes it less enjoyable. I was dissapointed by this beer.

Bottle. Clear amber colour with medium frothy white mostly diminishing head. Malty aroma with fruit and caramel. Nice sweet nutty flavor with hints of alcohol.
