colts9016 (198), Idaho, USA Aug 1, 2007 the pour give little head. The dark brown caramel color with tiny carbonation bubbles. The smell gives way to caramelized malt. the flavor is bursting with caramelized malt and molasses full body a bit nutty, oaky hint of coffee, vanilla and alcohol. Has a bitter finish. Not too bad for a doppel bock HighlanderOne (538), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA Jul 28, 2007 Poured from bottle. Didnt get much from aroma, but flavor is bursting with burnt malt, caramel, clove, banana, a hint of hops. Nice finish. Great beer. engineersbeers (1), Canada does not count Jul 26, 2007 Pours with a thin layer of an off white creamy head, but quicky vanishes. The beer is a beautiful amber colour which is quite pleasing.
This dopplebock leaves a bit to be desired on the nose with a strong hint of burnt caramel and yeast. Something seems a bit off..
The taste is not very surprising since it follows through with the smell quite nicely. It definitely holds it own in complexity and lingers for some time.
I recommend trying this beer! Seeuwk (7), Brazil does not count Jul 21, 2007 Bottle. Been such a long since I’ve tasted this doppelbock. Full body. Beautiful amber. Very nice. DarkMagus (433), San Jose, California, USA Jul 19, 2007 Pours a caramel/brown color...not all that much carbonation Sweet malty aroma with bananas, clove, and some breadiness. Flavors were very sweet and very bready with hints of the yeast, raisins, caramel, and a tiny bit of clove and anise (and some alcohol). Full-bodied, lightly syrupy mouthfeel... pretty good stuff overall but I’d probably just go for a Celebrator. fozapd (33), Burlington, New Jersey, USA Jul 18, 2007 Paulaner Salvator was a quality doppelbock. It had a pleasant caramel taste to it with mild carbonation. It was a reddish brown with almost no head. Overall a decent brew, but it was overhyped at my local beer store. djd07 (721), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 17, 2007 500 mL bottle. Pours a gorgeous ruby/amber color with a small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma was a fruity and malt. The taste is smooth with a very sweet finish. BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jul 16, 2007 Dark amber color with a sweet malty aroma. Malt body with a faint roasted character and an alcoholic bite.
