Rich reddy brown, thin tight head. Smells a bit lagery, thin and perfumed. Taste, however, has much more body - a very full bock.Robust sweet maltiness, nicely burnt, with very dry hoppiness filling the back of the mouth, and providing the finish. Covers the 7.5% well.

Sweet malty aroma. Soft bananaey palate, full of esters, sweet, soft carbonation. No hint of 7.5%. Full, malty body, not as almondy as normal. Subtle fruity hops too. Lovely quaffer, could session this, despite the strength. yomintyfresh (53), USA Jun 13, 2007 Dark amber color, cream-colored head that lingers and leaves a lot of lacing. Tastes of dried fruit and honey, chocolate - sweet and malty. Alcohol is well hidden. robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jun 12, 2007 dark ruby color, small head. aroma is dark malt, and caramel. flavour is robust, and thick. Malty with big caramel, and grain overtons. as this warms is get very very mealy. THis beer is quite satisfying, its like a meal. very nice stuff. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Jun 11, 2007 On tap. The pour was crystal clear, pale amber with a one-finger tall white head. Decent lacing. The aroma was brown sugar and nutty. The flavor was brown sugar, caramel and nuts. Middle of the road in terms of body with the alcohol completely hidden and the finish a nicely lingering bit of sweetness. Not as aggressive in the spice dept. as Optimator, but this beer is very drinkable. Nice. jameswolfe (141), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 6, 2007 Good beer for the price. Looks a lot like ice tea in the glass. reddish brown amber with an almost non-existant head. Not much aroma but tastes nice. A little bit of chocolate and sweet caramel. Not bad.....not great. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA Jun 5, 2007 Dark amber smells like juice. Disappaiting head with little lacing. Syrupy and sweet on the tongue. Alcoholic finish. bdigital (585), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 5, 2007 Bottle pour. Amber-brown with little to no head. Has a very rich, rock candy, caramel, and malt aroma to it. Thin mouth feel of caramel and candied sugar with a subtle malt taste. Good double bock that I’m glad I can find anywhere. charcot25 (181), Cordova, Tennessee, USA Jun 2, 2007 On draft at the Saucer. Poured into a tulip glass with a ruby body and off-white head. Incredible malty aroma with hints of cherries, toffee and vanilla. Taste is equally malty with just enough hop bitterness and alcohol to balance it out. Much better on draft than out of the bottle.
