SeanMacGC (233), Dublin, Ireland Jul 16, 2009 Bottle 500ml. Pours translucent mahogany, with none-to-little head. Rich aroma of dark and sweetened malts, and treacle. Similar on the palate, with roast molasses and yeast. Quite light bodied for a doppelbock, but none the worse for it. italianjohn (338), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 13, 2009 Pours a dark orange with little or no head aroma of sweet nutty roasted malt tastes of citrus malt caramel and nut with a slight bitterness on the palate almost an alcohol taste not too heavy a nice quality brew solid balanced beer tomer (365), Rishon Le Zion, Israel Jul 12, 2009 0.33L bottle, smallish head vwith big bubbles, dark orange colour leaning towards amber. Aroma of honey and vanila with some herbal notes and a touch of candle wax. Flavours of caramel with some scenty floral notes with a strong bitterness and a alcohol presence which is a little to noticable, buttery texture reminding me of oaked chardonnay. sour dried figs aftertaste and that buttery chardonnay sensation again. Intriguing beer. Bragesnak (2225), Aarhus, Denmark Jul 9, 2009 Bottled.
Brown withh white head. Aroma and flavor of malt and caramel. Some fruity notes. mcdav2154 (295), Germany Jul 7, 2009 Very enjoyable. Smells of roasted malt, nuts, and caramel. Pretty much tasted the same. Really felt creamy throughout the mouth. I will definately drink this again. Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Jul 5, 2009 500ml bottle. Copper pour with a pretty short lasting white head. Malty, slightly toasty aroma. Flavor is pretty much the same, pretty good, but could imagine it being alot better in Germany. sirPino (855), Zawiercie / Żywiec, Poland Jul 4, 2009 No: 748

Bottle brown, 500 ml,18.3 P
Appearance: Pours beautiful strawberry red to opalized dark orangy, shiny and perfectly clear body texture, body carbonation is seemingly not very vivid but there is a moderate beer saturation, head is initially big, frothy, pillowy, beautiful in its regularity of texture, off - white with interesting orangy shades, firm and slowly decreasing to small, there is a nice lacing. All in all beer looks wonderful in terms of colour.
Aroma: Oily, alcoholic, fat malty, quite a grat deal of sweetness, cognac, coocoo candy, all in all is very malty and alcoholic oriented, in terms of fruit there is plum and cherry going upfront, very noble malty profile, apart from choisest malt ther is a gnetle hoppy touch balancing the malty sweetness of the beer, strawberry, prune, slight touch of red grapes, hoppy profile may seem leavy but is hard to tell.
Flavour: Front is robust with honest fat crispy fresh toffee like malty background being given a great character of spicyness of hoppy origin and leavy touches going together with quite strong alcoholic background, great warmth on palate in the aftertaste, kind of mineral saltyness, stronger in alcohol towards the end with slaty bitter touches on a tongue. Finish duration is long with notes of fruit, especially red fruit such as plum, prune and toffee.
Palate: Body is full, texture is almost oily, carbonation on palate is moderate, finish feel is strongly alcoholic, moderately astringent with a spicy - alcoholic warmth.
satan165 (542), River Grove, Illinois, USA Jul 4, 2009 aroma of toffee crunch, some pit fruits and more caramel. flavor is deeply nutty with caramel. booze makes an appearance but its not offensive, it actually melds well with the caramel notes to make a warming brew. this is a beer i would revisit even amongst a style that somewhat disinterests me.
