Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Bottle brown, 500 ml,18.3 P
Appearance: Pours beautiful strawberry red to opalized dark orangy, shiny and perfectly clear body texture, body carbonation is seemingly not very vivid but there is a moderate beer saturation, head is initially big, frothy, pillowy, beautiful in its regularity of texture, off - white with interesting orangy shades, firm and slowly decreasing to small, there is a nice lacing. All in all beer looks wonderful in terms of colour.
Aroma: Oily, alcoholic, fat malty, quite a grat deal of sweetness, cognac, coocoo candy, all in all is very malty and alcoholic oriented, in terms of fruit there is plum and cherry going upfront, very noble malty profile, apart from choisest malt ther is a gnetle hoppy touch balancing the malty sweetness of the beer, strawberry, prune, slight touch of red grapes, hoppy profile may seem leavy but is hard to tell.
Flavour: Front is robust with honest fat crispy fresh toffee like malty background being given a great character of spicyness of hoppy origin and leavy touches going together with quite strong alcoholic background, great warmth on palate in the aftertaste, kind of mineral saltyness, stronger in alcohol towards the end with slaty bitter touches on a tongue. Finish duration is long with notes of fruit, especially red fruit such as plum, prune and toffee.
Palate: Body is full, texture is almost oily, carbonation on palate is moderate, finish feel is strongly alcoholic, moderately astringent with a spicy - alcoholic warmth.

aroma of toffee crunch, some pit fruits and more caramel. flavor is deeply nutty with caramel. booze makes an appearance but its not offensive, it actually melds well with the caramel notes to make a warming brew. this is a beer i would revisit even amongst a style that somewhat disinterests me.

Dark amber/ruby por with a large off-white head that quickly faded. Slightly hazy. Loads on clean sweet malt aroma with caramel notes. Some chocolate hints and creamy alcohol. Similarly malty flavour, quite sweet. Smooth alcohol presence. Low bitterness. Once you’ve got used to the strong sweetness and alcohol (or rather, the lack of balancing bitterness) it makes for quite an easy drinking beer. Quite full body, low carbonation. Wouldn’t have thought this would work with the sweetness but somehow it doesn’t seem out of place.

Rich dark orange in colour with a fast dissipating head. Aromas are sweet citrus and nutty with underlying grassy notes, touches of caramel too. Medium bodied with a sweet, malty, soft and creamy mouth feel, bread dough, marmalade, malt, grilled nuts, mild bitterness and fairly good length. While there will be many who enjoy this style, but if you are top-fermenting fan it may not suit.

Lots of flavors, none overpowering. I tried this side by side with Boont Amber, and compared to that the flavors seemed mild. Anyone who likes 1554 should love this. I’ve been buying Salvator by the 6 pack for 3 years, bought a 6 pack recently that tasted bad! In every other example I would rate it at least 4 out of 5!

Chestnut and lime nose with a touch of smoke. Amber with a medium yellow head.Medium body, alcohol evident. Dried leaves, grass, and horehound. Not overbearing, but not terribly flavorful either.

Sweet, aroma with notes of figs, plums and other fruits. Flavor has hints of caramel, berries and a very faint hint of hops. Mouthfeel is smooth.
