The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Pours a clear mahogany with a healthy, persistent tan head. Aroma is sweet with chocolate and caramel. Flavor has dark fruits like plum and raisins. Very smoky and slightly alcoholic. Pretty nice dopple.

Pours a brown colour, taste is malty, quite sweet and oily on the palate, good, but the reputation is bigger than the beer

Pours a caramel amber with a head that instantly disappears. Only knock to the aroma is it could be a little stronger: caramel, roasty, floral, dough, super light soy sauce. Palate is wonderful with just a little stickiness in the corner of the mouth. Difficult to stop at just one!

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Pours dark brown with red highlights and one finger off white head. Typical doppelbock smell, sweet roasted malt, prunes and alcohol. Tastes a little boozy with notes of prunes, roasted malt, raisins and sweet malt. Finishes moderately dry. Palate is creamy without being thick. Very good beer, had before, will have again.

0,5l Bottle. Clear, light brown color with a head that disappears quickly. Smells malty. The taste is pretty sweet with a slight bitter aftertaste. Low carbonation. Overall a good Doppelbock.

33cl bottle, hazy orange color, small off white head, caramel aroma, raisins, roasted and honey notes, brown sugar sweet flavor, full body, finish with caramel and grass, very nice surprise I thought it was a simple and cheap beer (0.99€).

Absolutely delicious. Luckily it is 7.9% and the alcohol is noticeable or I’d drink more of these! Very good heavy malty flavors and good nutty malty roasty aroma. Nice brew all around.

500cc Bottle. Light brown to orange with a nice white head. Aroma is cereal, caramel but taste is alcohol and rather dry with a bitter finish. The body is medium with medium to low carbonation. Very good overall but not my favourite dopplebock.
