COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Bottle courtesy of rickgordon. Pours hazy brown with a small beige head that doesn’t leave much trace in the glass while quickly dissipating. Smell is heavy malts, slightly fruity and tiny floral with sweet dark bread, caramel, toffee, fudge, dark honey, prunes, cherries in brandy, hay, minerals, leather and hints of vanilla. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter, malty, fruity and tiny floral. Mouthfeel is soft, round, velvety, very tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and tiny bitter with complex fudge malts, dried dark fruits and floral dark honey. Rich, complex and incredibly tasty. A treat and an absolute delight with some blue cheese.

330ml bottle from Beer Cartel, Sydney. Poured a deep chestnut brown with fading light beige head leaving a soapy lace. Rich and intense malt-forward characters of caramel, toffee, mid- and dark, dried fruits, Christmas spices, toasty malt and milk choc. Live the nutty, yeasty complexities too most notably on the palate. Deep and rich but clean and not without balance. A gentle bitterness keeps things in perspective. Medium to full body with medium carbonation and a moderate to full length and intensity finish of warming fruits and spice.

Pours hazy amber/brownish color from bottle. Intense malt aroma, especially crystal malt, toffee and bread aromas. Head fades quickly. Low to med carbonation and body. It’s hard to drink too many bottles because of sweetness and of course alcohol ratio. A bit too sweet for me

Nagy, tartós hab, barna szín. Malátás, karamelles, kissé fűszeres illat. Karamelles íz, malátás alapon, enyhe keserű, gyenge szénsav. Utóíze gyorsan elillanó kesernye és karamell, pörkölt maláta. Testes sör.

330 ml butelka. Ciemny bursztyn, brązowy kolor. Piwo ma smak karmelowy. Pianka szybko opada. Średnio gorzki smak, który normalnie zostaje w ustach. To dobre piwo, ale przereklamowane.

hauxe (289) - Butzbach, GERMANY - MAY 4, 2016
Pours clear reddish brown from the bottle. An attractive off white crown forms, albeit briefly. Relatively quickly after the initial pour the beer loses all evident lacing and foam. Smell is malty sweet with no evident fruity notes. The malt aroma has a distinctive roasted tinge. Flavor is sweet caramel and butterscotch. Finish trends alcoholic and leaves a light bitterness behind. Am overall a bit disappointed, it lacks the depth of better Doppelbocks. The German offering from Andechser is much more rewarding and complex. Still, it is quite drinkable. Have it in a quiet moment, after dinner.

Aroma: Dried fruit, bread, caramel, light hoppy spiciness, metal on minimum. Quite pleasant and intensive. Taste: Strong bread notes with some dried fruit, caramel, molasses, some spicy hoppiness, light booze alcohol. Palate: Sweet boozy finish, full body, carbonation medium.
