Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Ok beer. Not my style, but not a bad concoction. But I don’t think I could drink more than one at a time.

Bottle. Hazy orange body with a medium off white head. Fruity and malty aroma with some caramel and wheat. Heavy malty flavour with some alcohol and fruit notes.

Too thick. I like the smokey nose on the full and creamy head though.

Faint, roasted malt aroma. Relatively quickly disappating head. Nice red hue. Very good caramelly taste with some bitterness. A little too malty for my taste, but a good beer overall. *ppcpilot, you have the spelling right. You lead me to comment that I love caramel and dulce de leche, but for some reason, am not crazy about it in my beer.

A striking and odd but enticing Coors-like character along with its malty and roasty aroma. The flavor is tremendous, woody, dark with molasses finishing soft bittersweet.

Smokey caramel nose, with slight overtones of wood. Orange/rust color with rocky head. Substantial mouthfeel, with an acidic aftertaste. Caramel and slightly metallic flavor but very smooth, sweet and rich.
