The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

One of the best beers I’ve tasted. Alcohol level high, not that I’m complaining.

Cola colored beer with a smallish head. Aroma is dark malty with some fruity sweetness, plums maybe and a bit bananas. Some caramel too, dark bread and alcohol. Taste is sweet bready malts, syrupy and malty, some alcohol. Oily texture with lower than medium co2. Quite a lot of alco in the finish with some bitterness. Not my style of a beer, but works rather good nevertheless. Somehow the alcohol feels a bit high on this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

18.7.2014. Dark amber colour with brownish head. Malty aroma with some caramel and alcohol. Taste is a bit strange. Malty, nutty, raisin. Very soft and malty. Still maybe toostrong for the type.
