COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Bottle. Cloudy brown pour with a yellow tan head. Malt heavy beer. Brewed with standards following reinheitsgebot, This double bock is indeed a very malty medium bodied beer. Not as high an abv to compliment but good nonetheless. Fruity aromas pair well with the malt and molasses for a sweet beer.

✝ Bottle. Clear chestnut brown with a large slowly diminishing beige head. Rich malty notes of caramel, dark dried fruits, brown sugar, over ripe banana, light coffee like bitterness in the finish. Medium body, oily texture, medium carbonation, medium sweet and bitter. Little alcohol presence. Nothing overdone and quite pleasant. More a fan of eating than of fasting, but this could be an ok replacement for food in large enough quantities. ✝

Aroma of dates and raisins with a touch of bitter paper. Appears clear copper-brown, many streams of fizz rise to the top, white foam, no lace. Tastes sweet, of dates with a balancing paper like bitterness. Palate is fizzy, thick, nice. Overall, nice.

Thank you to monk Barnabas and the Paulaner Monks for guarding this wonderful recipe. A Deep rick, thick, Doppelbock much deeper than Spaten optimator. Not a reral summer beer unless you live in a area where it g ets cold in the summer like the North coast of California along the shoreline. Would suggest tasting on its own to appreciate its character. Not a typical brew to match with food given the deep thick mouthful, richness and deep warmth after enjoying a bottle. Does come in 6 packs as well as the larger pint plus size bottles which is great . Would consider the brew version of a glass of port after drinking wine with dinner. That last pour for the night .. Might scare off puss Corona extra light drinking man, however don’t assume it will chase off the girls as a he man brew either. German girls at least don’t have a problem with bigger head. A well deserved high 90’s on the rating for the quality over the decades. makes a great present at Christmas for a fellow coworker who enjoys brew.

Bottle from SuPerAlko in Tallinn (€ 1,55 + 0,08), July 2014. Pours a deep, brownish copper; tan head. Bubbles. A sweet, very - almost burnt - caramelly (Kukekomm!) nose with some strong cereal notes there, too. Taste is mostly just caramel but not overtly sweet, a bit roasty, metallic. Medium to full body, thick mouthfeel, though quite a soft palate with some crisp carbonation. Dry mouthfeel with a bit of a hay there. Malty, slightly spicy and alcoholic, warm, metallic finish. I just can’t seem to be turned into a Bock fan. Though I do imagine I’d enjoy this with some roast beef and baked potatoes.

I've wanted to drink a bock for the past week so I picked this one up. After prying off the cap I could smell the sweet malts and the caramel flavors. Poured it displays a deep coppery color and a thick white head. Scent is dark breads like pumpernickel, slight yeast, malts, and a mild hop characteristic. Taste is malty, yeasty, bread, slight alcohol, and candy flavors such as chocolate, caramel, toffee, butterscotch depending on the drinker's taste buds. Mouthfeel is thick, smooth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

En ganske fin og dejlig øl... Flot farve Anonym duft Ikke særlig stærk i smag, på trods af høj alkoholstyrke

Light brown colour with a nice white head. Aroma is malty, roasted, sweet, honey, alcohol, toffee Taste is malty, caramel, too much sweet and some alcohol. Hops is not enough to balance the taste, so drinking is too much sweet. Medium oily body. Good carbonation. Unbalanced
