The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Bottle. Cloudy brown pour with a yellow tan head. Malt heavy beer. Brewed with standards following reinheitsgebot, This double bock is indeed a very malty medium bodied beer. Not as high an abv to compliment but good nonetheless. Fruity aromas pair well with the malt and molasses for a sweet beer.

Nice grainy, bready aroma. Reddish brown color with an off-white head that dissipated fairly quickly, Very nice malty taste with chocolate overtones and just enough hopping to reduce the sweetness. Nice medium body with a very smooth finish. Number one example of the style in BJCP Guidelines.

Bottle, 33cl. Pours reddish, amber light hazy into the glass, with fizzy carbonation and big, foamy beige head. Settles around 1½ finger. Fruity head and nose, blum, pear and apples, herbal, citrus along moderate spices. Malt, brown sugar, earthy yeast and butter biscuits too. Very similar taste - no surprises there. Clear, warming alcoholic taste, not that aggressive, but still very noticeable. Solid medium bodied, oily texture with soft, average carbonation.

Moderate off-white head and lacing, dissipates quickly. Clear ruby dark amber liquid. Attractive aroma of grains, bread and spring floral. Moderate bitterness and floral hops in the background. Very smooth to drink with full body and warm finish. Very enjoyable to drink and I can't wait to get my hands on some more! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
