COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2007 Rerating. Pours copper with small head that dissipates quickly. Scent of pumpernickel & molasses. Low carbonation, medium thickness in mouth . Flavor starts smoky & sweet roasted malts. Ends with a bittersweet chocolate roar which resounds for quite a long time.

I love this stuff. My favorite place to drink this is at the Rathskeller when Polka Boy is playing. It’s smooth on the palate, high in alcohol and well balanced all the way through. It’ not the best Double Bock I’ve had, but it’s one of the tops. Nice thick head and dark in color. Full of malt, carmel and bread flavor.

This liquid bread is deeply filling and satisfying. Really enjoyed the bready maltiness throughout. Excellent for fall.

frankfurt, germany. .5L bottle poured into a snifter glass. pours redish-brown with a bit of an orangy color. very small head, almost non-existant. aroma is very malty and bready with caramal, honey and maple syrup notes. very sweet aroma. flavor is very malty but sweet. fruity, caramel, and a healthy amount of alcohal at the end. amazingly complex but a bit hard to drink as most doppelbocks are.

Heavy mouth feel with a lot of flavor. Complex characteristics make up the wonderful taste of this beer.
