Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Bottle. Crystal clear, brilliant amber color. Nice average sized head. Rich, malty aroma with slight smoky caramelized character. Sweet caramel and roasted malt flavor, hint of molasses with mild alcohol warmth. Very smooth, very drinkable.

Bottle: Red colour, with a nice foam.Aroma of maltyness, chocolate.Smouth mouth felling of maltyness and bitter hops in cimbination, who make this German dark bock nice on a dark winter evening. Medium finish, full body!

This is one of the best beers I have tasted. Definetly high on my top ten list. The flavor was excellent. The alcohol content is excellent without any alcohol flavor. Price was 1.95 U$S dollars in Utah. Would be a perfect score if it was around $1.50 a bottle.

Smokey caramel nose, with slight overtones of vinegar and wood. Cool label, vibrant orange/rust color with chainmail head which transforms to an inch of spongey foam which persists. Substantial mouthfeel, with an acidic aftertaste. Caramel and slightly metallic flavor, but I may come back and re-rate this on a cleaner palate. Paulaner again comes through with a crafty brew.

Bottle. Pours amber with lasting small white head. Not much lacing. Has the sweet malt bock beer aroma. Lekker malty flavour with a sweet/bitter finish. Lovely bock from the country that invented it.

The problem with this stuff is it tastes too good, and at 7.5% that can be a problem.

One of the true Dopplebocks out there. If you have an opportunity to purchase this "liquid gold", then don’t hesitate to do so. The pour immediately produces a medium-sized off-white head that dissapates fairly quickly. Notes of caramel, chocolate are pronounced in the aroma. A rather sweet, strong malty flavor and an EXCELLENT example of how a dopplebock should be. There is little alcohol taste and a stong sweet aftertaste. This one is ALWAYS stocked in my house, it’s usually easy to find and it goes well with most foods, especially Italian food.

Brown colour, big bubbly head. Strong bitterness, roasted miexed flavours of herbs, spices, malt or maybe even caramel. Extremely rich taste, drinks awesomely well. Great doppelbock.
