The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

This is a doppel that I truly enjoy drinking and this is one of my favorite beers thanks to my BF (thedm) who introduced me to fine beers and what good beers are all about almost 3 years ago!To me it has a superb taste and goes down very smooth and easy.

Chocolate brown in color with a rich lacey head - the aroma of bread, the flavor of raisins and molasses, a very satisfying brew. Go out and buy some!

This beer offers a rich taste, rich buzz, and if being drank in a group, a great clanking of the mugs. Great with Greek and middle eastern foods.

En helt igennem fantastisk dobbeltbock. Den hører absolut til en af favoritøllene, ikke helt ulig vores egen Carsberg 47.

I may be biased but I love this Dopplebock. This is probably the first of my ’Best Beers’. Probably 15 years ago, and I really haven’t found a better standard. I loved it then when I found it and love it now after years of tasting new beers. It’s probably the heaviest ’alcohol’ tasting bock I’ve had but I like that. I don’t think it’s too much, but you’ll notice it. I found Spaten Optimator and Full Sail (90 day) Bock (Bock on box and Dopplebock on label ;) ) to be fairly similar in taste, but each getting less alcohol taste as listed.

Moderate off-white head and lacing, dissipates quickly. Clear ruby dark amber liquid. Attractive aroma of grains, bread and spring floral. Moderate bitterness and floral hops in the background. Very smooth to drink with full body and warm finish. Very enjoyable to drink and I can't wait to get my hands on some more! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle. About 9 degrees Celsius. Mid brown hue with very slight reddish tinge. One and a half fingers of tightly laced beige head which held well. Immediate toffee and caramel aroma which is very strong. Flavour is intense, matches aroma and lingers long after the last mouthful has gone. Very sweet upfront with minimal bitterness in the end, yet balanced - perhaps by the strength of the alcohol. Good mouth feel, plenty of weight with enough carbonation to even out the flavour. Great beer, had to have a second, but intense enough to be satisfied at that. Much stronger, in every sense to the other dopplebocks brewed in and around Australia (that I have tried so far). Special on its own, fantastic when paired with robust food to contrast the intensity and sweetness.
