Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Clear, light copper. Thin but persistent head. Huge nose of super sweet malt, reminicent of a fresh wort. Smooth body, tons of chewy malt, sweet, bready with a nice little twang of hops. Very well balanced. Along the same lines with optimator but i think this might edge it out a little, who knows, im kinda buzzed up. Thats the beauty of strong beers, ive had 2 and its a night out. Thanks Trap!

Huge beer. This one has so much going on, its almost a meal into itself (which is what I believe Doppelboks were made for in the first place).

I can not belive I nver rated this, it was a daily drink toward the end of "04/ Poured amber with acreamy head, like whipped cream. Sweet/sour aroma of malts. Nice back bone of malted seetness, that improves as it warms. I really liked this, try this on double bock lovers, while no Celebrator, still very nice.

Don’t take this bad boy lightly... This is one brew that demands your attention. And it deserves every bit of it. Nice one to enjoy on a cold winter night.

Pours a stunning clear deep amber, with a nice fluffy off-white head. Aroma is sweet slighty burned caramel, very little hops or anything else notible. The palate is full bodied, but not overpowered by alcohol. Similar flavours to the aroma, burned caramel, brown sugar and rum, with a low bitterness. There is some alcohol present in the finish, and a little lingering sweetness. Overall... fantastic

dark brown, malt aroma with a slighty sweet banana flavor. Round and full and delicious. It does taste a bit different from other beers, but this is because it is my first dopple... can’t wait to try some more

Clear and light red. Syrupy looking with a thin tan head. Very appealing aroma of dark malt and raisens and caramel. Thick in body with a bit of an alcohol finish. Excellent malt and fruit and caramel flavor. According to one of the Paulaner Sales Managers, Salvator is only available in the early spring for Lent in Germany. We are blessed with it year round. It varies from 7.2% to 7.8% by the year.
