COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

This brew pours such an intense red with a tall off-white head that leaves thick lacing. Sweet malt smell and taste in both the aroma and taste. Notes of caramel, fruit, and wheat, with a well balanced finish and malty aftertaste. Very smooth and medium to thick bodied brew.

330ml bottle. Pours a cloudy auburn colour with a tan head. Aroma is heavy with fruit notes (almost fruit punch, peach, cherry, orange, apple cider) caramel, and corn syrup candies. I was surprised by the taste, as I was expecting full on sugar, but it’s much drier that I was expecting. Starts with a sour note, followed by burnt sugars, woody notes, dried fruit, toasted malt, with apple, molasses and bitterness in the finish. A full on bargain.

bottle in a weizen (finally got the spelling right) glass - pours misty and dark amber with rich tan foam. Aroma is robust with a blend of plums, liquorish and/or chocolate. After a second sniff, the alcohol is present. Taste is sweet and bitter like the chocolate you get with espressos. Provides a long finish with a creamy film. Enjoyable in every aspect of how a beer should be, but the search continues for the "perfect beer".

Poured a hazier amber color with a good head that stayed. Aroma full of malts, caramel. Taste was a medium sweetness with a lite bitterness. Medium bodied, creamier texture, ave carbonation, long finish. Smooth tasting, with caramel, some sweet sugars, malts. Not a huge doppelbock fan but this was good.

Slightly hazy amber. Poured into a mug small with white head that reduces to a small ring. Small carbonation bubbles in the glass. Aroma is of dark fruit especially raisins. Taste is of sweet malt and raisins. The ABV is 7.9% is very well hidden. Toward the finish there is a rye bread flavor after it warms. The finish is somewhat dry. Overall, for the style if available I would buy again. It’s tasty. Shared with AirForceHops.

Really enjoyed this beer. Great dark malty aromas of heavy bread, maybe molasses, but not too much. Just right. Not much carbonation, oily/creamy in the mouth. Very enjoyable.

11.2oz bottle poured into a stein. Smells strongly of raisins/dried fruit and a general maltiness. Tastes pretty much the same but with a warming alcohol taste (maybe whiskey or brandy). A great beer for a cold day.

Amber red with a froathy white head. Aroma of malt, bread. Full bodied with an oily texture and malty taste. A bit "too much" alcoholic. A pleasant beer, even though not proper to drink during summer
