Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

nice amber red with a thick head that dissapated relitivly quickly. aroma was of rich malt and plums with slight toastyness and a little spiced alcohol. Sweet rich malt, dark and light fruit present. warming alcohol and slight flowery hoppiness, and a bitter dry finish.

Excellent beer. Has a smooth warm taste with a very fluffy head. Nice rich medium amber color and hits fast and hard after a long day at work. Whoooooo! :)

Light copper colour, very attractive. Thin head dissipates quickly. Excellent aroma -- dark with sweet notes. High alcohol on the palate, but solid taste and very smooth finish. A very enjoyable dopplebock.

Amber colored with a toasted bread smell. Has a nice creamy malty taste with a hint of some syrup. Feels very nice in the mouth. Has a sweet aftertaste that isn’t overpowering.

Close to copper color/or strong tea with honey added. Malty sweet nose. Mostly oily mouthfeel with a bit of fizz at the end. Just a great malty/sweet hearty brew that is quite warming. Never noticed any bitterness on this one and I have been drinking it for years and is always a maindish in my fall/winter imbibing. SOLID!

This is one of those “classic” beers that I have wanted to try for a while, and I wasn’t too disappointed with it either. In the glass it was an amber/mahogany colour with an off white creamy head, the nose was reminiscent of caramel, toffee, burnt grain, and rum and raisins, following through with a smooth, complex, palate and with a finish of roasted grains and chocolate with the result being smooth, dryish, and warming. Overall I was quite glad to have had it, and may even have it again (if there is nothing new)

The bottle poured a crystal clear amber liquid with a small creamy but persistent head that left nice lacing on the edge of the glass. The aroma was loaded with mega maltiness. There was little or no hop aroma to this beer. I also detected notes of plum. The mouthfeel was smooth and full-bodied. The flavor was intensely malty sweet and smooth with a great warming sensation that grew toward the middle and lasted well into the finish.

Pours a nice bright amber brown with a white head. It is malty and sweet like honey in the nose and has similar taste with some nutty darker flavors. A very smooth and solid beer.
