COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Bottle - Hazy orange/amber pour with no head. Aroma of honey and grains. Taste like aroma, with toasted bitterness. Mouthfeel a bit syrupy and not very bubbly. Decent.

A - Pours a clear copper with red highlights. 1.5 finger tan head. S - Lots of rich toasted caramel, almost like caramel melting in a pot, musty wheat bread, musty yeast, over ripened apples, sugary figs, nutty. T - Toasted bread, fruity malt, caramel, alcohol does not hide, grassy bitterness shows up along with some dry nuttyness. M - Full and slick, but drys out on the finish. Adequate carbonation. The aroma is better around 52 degrees. After that the alcohol really pounces on things. The flavors were good but fell flat of what the nose describes. Serving type: bottle 08-27-2011

Body is a clear amber, head is minimal. Nose is spicy with notes of bready malts and some hops. Taste is sharp and spicy, leaving a long lasting bitterness and warmth. Alcohol taste is a bit too pronounced. A somewhat one-sided but nevertheless decent beer.

The grand dad of the double bocks. Not the best of the style, but still one of the best, and its flaws actually makes the good parts better. A bit thick on the pour, and a bit overall bready, accented by a nice blend of noble hops and thick sweet malt.

A bottle that poured an amber color with a tan head. The aroma was exceptionally sweet with taffy & caramel notes. The flavor was fruity with plums, caramel, quite sweet & reminded me of iced tea... I also got figs or dates. It’s really sweet but smooth but has some booziness to it, pretty good and at a nice price. It went very well with some camembert cheese.

0,33L bottle. Musty, rotten potato, alcohol aroma, animal farmyard smell. Alcohol, medical spirt taste is strong and disruptive. Dont find anything special.

Light amber with a small and quickly fading light brown head. Strong caramel aroma. Deep and caramel flavored with hints of molasses and malt. Very traditional German Doppelbock ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

pours a hazy amber with a medium off white head. aroma is fruity...candied fruit...with a mild earthy bitterness. flavor follows suit...adds a touch of chocolate. mouthfeel is light and the finish is warming earthy bitter/fruit.
