The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas’ time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Kolor: bursztynowy, lekko zamglony.
Piana: obfita, drobnopęcherzykowa, trochę strzela, ale dość wolno opada.
Zapach: wyraźnie słodowy, chlebowy, sporo aromatów ciemnych owoców, rodzynek, melanoidyn, aromatów opiekanych, lekkie akcenty chmielowe, niestety niezbyt świeżego chmielu.
Smak: pełnia jak na ekstrakt i styl, dość lekka, smukła, sporo nut słodowych, chlebowych, trochę ciemnych owoców, melanoidyn, lekko opiekanych, lekkie akcenty chmielowe, niska goryczka.
Wysycenie: średnie.

Pours tea colour with a medium, decent head. Aroma of breadcrust, caramel, cake, some raisins and red fruits. Quite sweet in the taste but by no means cloggy, alcohol well hidden, medium herbal bitterness. The flavours are again caramel and cocoa biscuits. Tasty beer of malty profile.

Mild coca aroma with a roasty body and a smooth milky body finish is clean. Great doppelbock, but not as good as optimator.

Good Doppelbock. Pours deep amber (like tea) with small head. Sweet malty aroma and taste. Drinkable despite it’s ABV.

Thick, dense cream head over deep clear amber beer. Intense, coloured malts’ nose, sweet bread, very powerful. Autumn leaves. Bitterish taint on top of all the former. Good, noble hops and not in a small dose. Even a tad metallic; breadcrust. Medium to well-bodied, slick, even slightly sticky; low carbonation. A classic, well deserving its moniker of liquid bread. Had no idea I hadn’t it covered on RB yet.

Enjoyed: Poured from a bottle into a stem glass. Appearance: Blurry reddish brown colour, with rich but short-lived dirty-white/yellow foam. Aroma: Vanilla, caramel, roasted malt, grains, alcohol. Palate: Watery; medium carbonation. Taste: Banana, caramel, alcohol and sweetness which turns to bitter aftertaste. Overall impression: Solid beer for enjoyment; not a thirst-fighter.

Pours a hazy caramel brown with a thin light tan ring. Pleasant aroma of sweet malts. Very smooth with a medium body. Tastes of caramel and toffee flavors. Not harsh or bitter. A slight alcohol tingle on the tip of the tongue and a smooth warm finish. Pretty enjoyable.

Pauliner's Salvatore: has a unique dark rich taste that is often described as "liquid bread," it a hearty beer that can be a mini-meal by itself. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0,33l bottle. Pours clear copper, a finger of almost tan head, medium retention. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, toffee, dried fruit. Tastes sweet, some bitterness, caramel, plum marmalade comes to my mind. You can feel alcohol, but it’s not annoying. It just adds some warm feeling. Body is quite sweet with almost oily texture and average carbonation. Some bitterness in the finish. Well balanced, proper late evening comfort beer.

From Carrefour. In Teku glass. Watching Los Soprano 3x01. Typical profile of the style. Maybe not the best example but nice enough, cheap and easily available in supermarkets again.
