4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Any time I can get my hands on something referred to as "liquid bread", with a ABV of 7.90%, I’m going to be happy...
This dopplebock poured into my large tulip glass with a rich amber color. The glass I used allowed for a great, light tan, rich foamy head. It stayed around for enough time to really aid the great nose of malt and lingering streaks of toffee. Had a wonderful heavy malt taste, with slight bits of toffee, and fresh wheat bread with honey. This beer, for being so substantial, really had a very drinkable, medium bodied mouth feel. This beer is pairing great with my aged white cheddar, but don’t rule out the schnitzel. Never rule out the schnitzel. I’ll leave the fasting to the Monks...Enjoy

This is probably my favorite overall beer. Malty, bready, sweet, delicious. To me, this is the ultimate in what a standard ale should taste like. Get it!!

Plaisante. Une Doppelbock plutôt légère mais bien maîtrisée. Un bon petit caramel fumé.
Sans grande originalité ni défaut.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: caramel, raisins, a little honey, a little alcohol (not offensive, helps break the sweetness).
Appearance: pleasant brown, fairly strong tea; clear; head small and not for long.
Taste: sweet, a little bitter; not exactly balanced, but the sweetness is broken.
Palate: body full; carbonation average; finish more sweet than bitter. For 7,9%, the alcohol is reasonably well hidden; it’s still clearly there, though.
Overall: I’m not too excited about the alcohol, but the beer’s nice, full, intensive, sweet, strong, and definitely enjoyable. Not in huge doses, I imagine, but quite fun once in a while.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Copper color, clean, with lively carbonation. Aroma caramel, toffe, raisins, honey, cloves and a hint of smoke in finish. Palate bit watery, alcohol quite present when warmed up. Aroma estery fruity, raisins, oak wood, caramel, spruce resin and salty umami/like finish. Balanced with low bitterness. Very decent malt heavy caramel brew with balanced characteristics. Enjoyed.
