The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Pours amber with carmel frothy head. Not a big fan of double bock style but this isnot too bad. Have another? If you goget it for me.

In short: Sweet strong beer. Aroma is to soft malts, taste is sweet-caramel, thick aftertaste. Is like a drinkable version of a dubbel.

Bottle at home. Pours a deep, dark amber colour with a medium, beige, creamy head. Sweet aroma of chocolate, dried fruit, wood and apples. The flavour follows up with more sweet malt, milk chocolate, leather and some roastedness. Has a rich and slick mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A well-balanced, sweet and delicious classic.

Aroma: Liquid malt, special: rubber glove. Appearance: Brown/Amber/caramel, decent foam. Taste: Alcohol can be felt quite noticeably, mellow, average carbonation, very malty, some caramel and dry wood flavors.

Aroma is quite weak. Reddish, clear. Medium sweet. Little bitter. Nice and drinkable. But slight metallic taste spoils it a bit.

Sweet malty aroma slightly caramel like. Strong in taste bit thin and even boozy. Almost no bitterness. Aftertaste is too much alcohol like, strong.

Pleasant surprise! Intense toasted caramel malt background, quite fruity, plums, berries, bit yeasty. Feels very smooth, bit oily, light alco kick. Well balanced, highly drinkable, dangerous thirst quencher due to ABV. But I like it and price/performance very nice

Bottle @ de Tolly joogipood, Tartu, Estonia. Pours with light brown, caramellysh head that lasts. Aroma of caramel, spicy hoppiness. Taste of sweet fruits, some burnt sugar, some alcohol and bread. Aftertaste has the best flavor with its bready taste and mild bitterness that stays in mouth. One of my favourite lagers.

Bottle. Hazy amber/red body with a thin off-white head. Light lacing. Aroma of caramel, red apple, brown sugar, raisin and lime zest. Flavour of green apple laces, toffee, dried apricot and honey. Just the right amount of sweetness. Medium body with a powdery mouthfeel. Soft fizz. An excellent beer that reminded me of Luckie Ales’ Doppelbock.
