COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

33cl bottle. This is a sticky, thick reddish-brown doppelbock with much of alcohol warming. Taste isn’t alcoholic, rather malty with some black currant and other black fruits. Light hop at the end. Good beer, but i don’t like doppelbocks. :)

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Pooler, GA. This is a mahogany colored beer with a fairly large white head. Has an aroma of malt, fruit and maybe some cocoa. The taste is big malt with some fruit, very good. This is a very good beer, highly recommended.

On tap. Intensità olfattiva elevata. Persistenza olfattiva discreta.

Pours a clear amber brown color, topped with a decent tan colored head. Malty aroma, quite roasty with some mild caramel. A hint of alcohol. Taste is sweet and malty, some caramel and fruity feel, but also some a bit unpleasant alcohol presence. Fairly full and strong, not really what I’d prefer.

From 330 ml bottle. Pours a hazy orange-brown with a rocky cream head that collapses to a ring. Aromas of crusty bread, burnt orange, raisins and fresh plum. Taste starts out with sweet malt and raisins before a firm orange zest and pepper bitterness washes through. Some fresher fruit flavours and warming alcohol towards the end. Sweet malty aftertaste. Nice one.

Strong aroma of malt, bread, earth, grapes and other fruits. Pours clear red or dark amber liquid with a frothy, soft white head. Medium bitterness and light sweetness, also some umami. Flavour of dark malt and some bitter hops as well as liquorice, grapes, dark fruit, bread and coffee beans. Medium body with a creamy texture and average carbonation with a somewhat bitter finish. This is a good Doppelbock, the alcohol isn’t too astringent and the dark, roasty malt balances the bitterness very well, but also gives it a nice and dark flavour.
