The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Bottle. Terrific scent right away. Sort of like candy apple with a bit of cinnamon. No head. Low carbonation but not flat. Very dry alcohol taste with sweet maltiness and resinous texture. Almost a belgian dubbel taste to it.

Mahoganymörk med lite skum. Smakar maltig, lite söt kola. Eftersmaken hyggligt lång karamell, lite alkoholanstruken. Mkt lite kolsyra gör den lättdrucken. OK.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a very cloudy and hazy deep amber-brown color with an average-sized, slightly creamy off-white head with average retention, lacing, and cling. Its aroma had a lively blend of dark fruits with raisins and plums, along with some caramel malt, barley, and bits of grain and yeast. The taste was somewhat sweet and fruity with notes of raisin and caramel, along with a sour grainy effect and touches of hops. The beer had a pretty thick and full mouthfeel with a heavy body and a noticeable presence of alcohol, and had fairly high carbonation and fizz.

Alcoholic, tart and stingy at first but the brew grows on you, displaying a rich and complex fruity flavor on top a full, thick body. Warming.

Pours dark brownih-redish hue. Very poor head from this bottle. Malty and sweet on the nose. Flavour sweet to start, then bitterness kick in with roastiness, finishes well, still a little bit sweet, but with balanced bitterness. Alcohol present in flavour and aroma, but still pretty well hidden for the abv. Great beer..

Bottle, 330ml, tasted 100ml poured into improper glass. Pours lovely dark reddish copper color, head is very tall and very dense with a beige color and a lovely mouth feel with sweetish taste. Aroma of sweet fruits, dried fruit and caramel malt. Carbonation is flat, body is full and very smooth. Taste is mostly sweet with almost no bitterness nor sourness. Flavors are of ripe fruits, bread, strong dark malt, caramel, dried fruits, biscuit, butter, strawberry, savoriness, some light warm spices. Alcohol is well hidden. Warming. Good flavors with great texture and mouth feel thanks to the combination of good thick body and long lasting dense head. Taste is flat sweetness, which is a little boring and might get cloying in larger servings. Over all, very good.

12 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy amber? brown? syrup? color with a decent beige head. Nose of toffee/ caramel/ fruits and malt. Taste follows and I just can’t get past the sweetness. All raisins and grapes with caramel notes. But probably right for the style. Pretty yeasty. Somewhat slick/creamy/ round mouthfeel. Some bitter notes at the end, but just ok overall.

Braun, wenig Schaum. In der Nase Karamellnoten, dunkle Früchte. Am gaumen dunkle Früchte, Hefe, leicht herb, an ein belgisches Dubbel erinnerned minus die typischen belgischen Hefen. Gut.

Appearance with amber color (dark), cloudy liquid and big and dense head. Aroma of roasted malt. In the mouth it is sweet, bitter, alcoholic and with a dry finish. It is a great beer... for anytime!

"compared to the KING... Celebrator...this beer is lacking, but on it’s own it’s a pretty good, sweet and aromatic malty brew. enjoyable and drinkable, pairs well with meat and game."

500ml bottle served in a Weizen glass. A: Beautiful slightly cloudy dark amber colour forming a huge and aired beige head when poured. Low retention and only few lacings left S: Really good in the nose. Sweet and fruity. Very strong smell of toffee and caramel with notes of caramel malts and grapes. Yeasts and alcohol in the end T: As the nose. Impressive. Toffee, caramel malts and grapes. Yeasts and hops. Good hoppy bitterness too. Upfront is slightly sweet. End is considerably bitter. Well balanced M: Medium to heavy body. Sweet upfront and quite bitter end. Medium to low carbonation and almost no alcohol considering the reasoable ABV O: Good drinkability which is a bit compromised by the sweetness. A good Paulaner specimen anyway...
