COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Launched as a 20 litre keg beer in March 2007 as a competitor to Leffe Blond.
"The finished beer has a fresh, soft maltiness that is aromatic without being cloying or too full on the palate. It has a light, hoppy character with a dryish, balanced finish and a surge of warming alcohol."

Light golden looks, big bubbles and a very thin lace. Not promising. Starts a bit fruity, but only a light malty aroma after a sip. Underwhelming for sure. Accessible and unimaginative taste, factory appeal and a big shortage on hops. Overall just very tasteless and boring brew. Better get any other Belgian blond, even the big names like Leffe and Grimbergen are better. (On tap at an ’Irish’ pub in Tours)

Draft. A dark golden beer with a lazing white head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and dusty hops, leading to a dry finish.

On tap at the town crier. Hazy golden pour. Light hoppy aroma mixed with some heavy yeasty notes, amd some light tropical fruits. Quite bready malts, a little boozy. Light metallic finish, with some minerals. This wasnt very good.

(Draught@Hilpeä Hauki, sampled 2010-01-15) Clear golden with a small head. Aroma of sweet fruit and berries, and a touch of alcohol. Yeasty flavor with (banana-) estery fruitiness, sweetish graininess, surprisingly burning-alcoholic like booze lagers. Medium body with soft carbonation, but alcohol burning. Can’t even compete with Leffe.

Keg (Hilpea Haukki, Helsinki)
5 dry malty aroma
3 Pale gold, keggy head
6 very simple malty body, gentle malty retronasals.
4 Pleasant carbonation, milky light grain finish. Finish has some mellow resiny noble hops.
13 suffers from not being big in any way, but the strength is in its simplicity.

Light golden colour, small white head. Refreshing mouthfeel, medium palate. Fruity hoppy taste with some sweet maltiness giving some strength to the aroma. Leaves dryish impression and nice kick of alcohol which doesn’t harass the taste though. Grainy and citrusy aromas too.
