(Pauw Wintertrots (2008-) ) Stubby bottle 330 ml from a trade with bierkoning, thanks Edo! Poured into a tulip glass, ABV 8% Gusher -1. Brown colour on the body, huge, thick and soapy tan head, with very good retention. Medium lacing on the glass. Nice aroma with plenty of spices, mostly cardamon and a bit of nutmeg, some caramel. Taste has also lots of cardamon, nutmeg, a bit of cinnamon, caramel, malts, sugar, light yeast, pepernoten, light marzipan very well hidden alcohol. Very nice. Medium body, a bit high on the carbonation. Slightly sticky on the palate. Very good, would bring me straight into the Christmas spirit if I was to drink it then, maybe I’ll look for it for this year’s holy days.

At Gouda 2014. Poured reddish brown with a small tan head. Aroma of heavy spices and sweet malt. Medium body, flavour is much as the aroma, spices overbalance the recipe.

like drinking a beer with Fishermen’s Friends poured in. Menthol is really nice, made even more interesting with the addition of herbs. Not special, but fairly unique. Tap at the Winterbeerfestival in Hoogeveen, 2013.

Bottle, from trade with Papsoe. Unclear, amber body and a small, off-white to beige head. Spiced nose, a good dash of ginger. Raisins and a touch of licorice. Bubble gum hints. Sweet flavor with the same things found in the aroma. Medium to full body, a bit sticky, and pleasantly carbonated. Medium length finish with a pleasant blend of spices and sweetness. Would like a little bitterness too, else it’s nice. A pleasant winterbeer indeed. 110218
