2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Neeskens (276) - SWEDEN - AUG 18, 2011
Hazy amber wth a off-white head. Candy sugar, caramel and some light acidity in the nose. More of the same in the taste. It don’t really take off and feels too sweet for me.

Good, but not great. Darker in color than most ’tripel’ style beers. Tasted quite tripel like with honey, alcohol, and a certain degree of spicy (almost wit-like) notes. Alcoholic finish, with a fair bit of hops. Good lacking that special something that makes a beer a great beer rather than just a good one.

330 ml bottle from Premier Wine and Spirits. Pours a nearly clear copper colour with modest-sized off-white head. Aroma is toffee, spices and brown sugar. Flavour is toffee, dark fruit and a bit of spiciness towards the end. A little alcohol warmth in the finish. Nice.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2011 Bottle poured into authentic glass. A little disappointed with this...but my expectations were high. A little sweet and unusual tasting.

Schade,daß ich nicht das authentische Glas im Holzgestell besitze. Also muß ein üblicher belgischer Kelch genügen.
Rotblonde Farbe mit ordentlicher Schaumkrone. Malzig-süßlicher Geruch. Sehr angenehm.
Sehr stimmiges Bild. Prima!Test vom 30.3.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ComradeK (466) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - JUL 31, 2011
330ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy chestnut, with a large beige head, which lasts quite well. The nose is richly complex, with caramel, cream, some woody notes and a touch of Scotch whisky creating an alluring blend. This complexity continues as one tastes it. It is quite strongly hopped for a Belgian ale, with spicy pine hops to start, blending with a touch of cinnamon to lead into a rich, malty body, with treacle and toffee set against an almost oak-like backdrop. A hint of nutmeg is introduced in the finish. A delightfully complex and rewarding beer, and a classic example of the Belgian style.
