3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours with no head and is reddish copper with medium carbonation. Smells of apples and pears. Off dry with a bitter apple finish. Another tart belgium beer. good but don’t like the sourness...

This isn’t my favourite Belgian brune but I love the glass dingus and it’s still a great drink. Malty without the hoppy bite I like.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2008 Cloudy amber - medium light brown head. Malty sweet fruityness. Nice alcohol taste. Actually refreshing. this is my second go-around with this beer and I am raising my rating. I think it’s pretty darn good.

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2008 Draft/bottle. This is one of my favourite Belgians outside the Trappist family. Just a fun beer to drink espcially in its patented glassware. This is one beer I would recommend trying to find and also try to get your hands on a glass & wooden holder.

I’m not that crazy about this one but it could be that the Belgian Strong Ales are not my cup of tea. The aroma is of toasted dates and the head is not holding. This is being enjoyed in a goblet so the aroma and taste of a Belgian should be accentuated. The first impression of the taste is dark Belgian candy sugar...very sweet. It does finish with a nice light tartness but follows with an alcohol aftertaste is subtle but noticeable.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Poured from an 11oz bottle into a tulip glass. Dark amber color with all sorts of funky shit floating about. Aroma is alcoholy and peach. Flavor is abrasive and off. Overall, not good.

Clear and light, with a good sized frothy head. Smells like gym socks. Medium bodied, with a creamy mouth feel.

UPDATED: NOV 2, 2007 A delight, very spicy, even though it was not too aromatic. Drunk from the original Kwak glass....very interesting

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Clear orange gold with a yellowy white head. Straong, heavy phenolic aromas tending to the darker side of the spectrum. Some fleshy fruit too (pineapple? grape?) and lots of juicy tangy wheat. In the mouth I got peach and pear notes under a minty clove and spcy wheat banana chorus. A noticable reisny presence too. Nice, and a little different.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Deep golden/amber color. Heavy malty aroma. Taste is also a bit too malty, with a slight fruit flavor.
