A very mild, very frothy beer. Inoffensive, but doesn’t really have much character - tastes like alchohol and yeast.

From the Burp Castle, NYC. This was a very tasty Belgian, pretty much what I expect a Belgian Strong Ale to taste like. Great beer, great atmosphere, it put a smile on my face for sure.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a two finger off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel, dried fruit, and some yeast spice. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel that finishes slightly sweet. A very good beer with a very interesting glass to match.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Nice big beige head over a amber/brown body. Initial aroma of sweet caramel, followed by dark fruits, marzipan and some yeasty notes. Taste is alluring malty-sweet with some appropriate fruity acidicy. Lightly spiced. Low hop level. Noteable alcohol presence. Medium to full body. Smooth and mouthfilling. Acidic finish. Very nice, and apperars even nicer and more extraordinary on tap with the original glass(wood)ware.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2007 Bottle, 330 ml. Muddy amber coloration with a nice head, consistent, but not so persistent. Full-bodied. Complex. Sweet and a little citric. Notes of honey and caramel. Average carbonation. Light bitter taste. Perceivable alcohol. Great beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Clear, copper body and a beige head. Caramel, dried fruits, hops, candisugar and spicy notes in the aroma, but maybe a bit weak. Alcohol, dried fruits, sugar, spices and hops and some more alcohol in the flavor. Warming, full-bodied beer with a warming finish. Dried fruits, caramel and spice-notes as well in the finish. A real classic beer, and the story behind the beer goes well with the flavor. (070404)

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2008 really nice traditional belgian smell. the taste is honey, citrus, dried apricots and slightly hoppy. nice mouth feel. kinda sweet with a light alcohol burn. nice
bottle from 2002 aged in the wine cellar... the sweetness has really died down and allowed all of the other characteristics to come through. lots of yeasty spicy goodness. honey and apricots are still there but without the sweetness of the fresh bottle. dry finish.
