Full-bodied Belgian Specialty Ale. Amber in color with beautiful foam and slightly sweet, seductive malt character. Rich, satisfying Belgian experience.

750->tulip: Pours a large, creamy, off-wihte head that provides spare lacing, has a hazy body that is made lightly cloudy by particles and has a honey clover and raisin bit to it. The beer itself is reddish brown in color. The duration of the flavor is average, it is moderately sweet, not very acidic or bitter and lasts about average on the palate after consumption. The texture is oily, the carbonation is soft, and the finish is astringent. I used to be crazy about all the Belgian beers when I first ’met’ them, but I’ve since come off of that honeymoon and am a bit more critical nowadays. Not a bad beer, but too sweet and heavy for my taste on an average day. It does, however, get a good bit better and ’candier’ the warmer it is; I’d serve warmer than the average beer.

Radiant copper color with an excellant head which left a pleasant lacing. I picked up aromas of strawberry, plum, bready yeastiness, and other various fruits. Fruity flavors, hints of clove and spices, banana, and perhaps a tiny bit of floralness of hops, but just a twinge. I really enjoyed the taste, it was simply a pleasure to drink. Medium bodied with little carbonation in the mouthfeel, pretty smooth going down. Almost seemed sessionable, however, at 8% you wouldn’t last long.

Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of plums, caramel malts, alcohol, and just a hint of some sweetness. Flavor is pretty much the same with a little alcohol warming on the finish. Overall it’s pretty good.

Pours dark amber with a fluffy head that dies down, aroma is malty fruit, and slightly metallic, the flavor is malty, some bannana, and alcohol. The flavor is not very complex, as i was hoping. Very thick body, i wish it was a bit fizzier. I probably would not buy again.

Cloudy Brown, Malty nose. Fair chunk of toasted malt in the taste as well. Not sure I’d cal this one complex though. what you smell is pretty much what you get.

Poured into a traditional Kwak glass...pretty darn sweet! Relatively clear mahogany pour with a pretty strong head, depending on the strength of the pour. Sweet aroma with some yeast, brown sugar, raisins and alcohol. Flavor is pleasantly simple...mostly yeasty, caramely malt with some hints of dark fruit and a slight burn afterwards to remind you that this thing does have some ABV working for it. Very high drinkability, however. Nice lacing on glass...I found this to be a well-above average drink.

Bottle; pours a reddish brown with some small chunks visible on the pour. Aroma was sweet, malty and fruity; caramel and cherries. Flavor was really good. Slightly sweet and sour; cherries, caramel, fruit, yeast with hints of spice and vanilla. Palate was solid, with a decent amount of carbonation. This one was very enjoyable.

Served in a kickass glass with a weird wooden stand/handle at Gollem in Amsterdam. Seemed to be the house beer this night as many people had these weird glasses in their hands. Plus, I think it was the most affordable, so while us tourists spent mad euro on the Westy, everyone else seemed to be clutching one of these at one point or another. And, it’s tasty stuff. Lots going on here, more than I can remember, but I can say that this is something I could definitely go back to time after time if I had the luxury of doing such.
