Serving: 10 oz tulip glass (draught).
Event: Drinks with the team after work.
Location: Winking Lizard Tavern (Crosswoods) in Columbus, Ohio.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Candi sweetness with various fruits, caramelly malt, and a little bit of alcohol.
Appearance: Clear reddish-brown with a diminishing white head, but it does retain a ring around the edge throughout.
Flavor: Malty, light Belgian-like fruitiness, slightly spicy. Moderately sweet overall with a spicy finish. Strong alcohol, but not hot or astringent.
Palate: Medium body, smooth, well carbonated (but not overly so).
Overall: Balanced flavors and very little bitterness. True to style and quite good.
Update on 12/15/2007: Sampled again from a 750 mL bottle shared by my friend Rob. Previous comments and score are still applicable and are more or less the same...

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 2, 2007 Bottle. Aroma of caramel malts and apples. Pours cloudy, full of sediments. Color is a deep orange-amber with a patchy white head. Very, very sweet caramel taste. Some alcohol in the finish. Palate is smooth but some cloying. benclarkiii (73), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Sweet malty candy nose. Spice and toffee follow. Red, small head. moderate lacing left. Flavors, caramel, sugary floral hops. spice. a bit too sugary sweet for me. Full body, warm, well balanced. LinusStick (1859), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Aroma of caramel and alcohol. Pour was a dark brown with a huge four finger puffy head. The taste was dark fruit, caramel and malt. The constant battle between alcohol burn and sweetness was interesting. Not very well balanced but good. Braudog (3789), Dayton, Ohio, USA

This poured dark copper with poofy and big (but airy) head. Brown sugar and sweet alcohol are the primary characteristics of the aroma. The flavor, on the other hand, is heavily titled to the caramel ... very sweet, almost candied. (#2766, 3/31/2007)
