piscator34 (938), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Feb 29, 2008 Amber in colour with fairly strong carbonation and a bunch of yeast floaties. Aromas of brown sugar, earth, citrus, and a bit of something chemical. Fruity and malty flavors dominate, with notes of light caramel, apples, and spice. Coarse, spent hop bitterness on the finish. Pretty average up until the finish, which was poor.
illkarate (51), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Oct 11, 2008 Pours a clear orange, with a decent, but quickly dissipating head. This is almost cloyingly sweet, very malty, flavors of hard candy, caramel, maybe a touch of dark fruit. This is a decent beer, but for a strong ale, I would like to see a bit more balance. BOLTZ7555 (528), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 10, 2008 This beer is all caramel...dark caramel color, sweet caramel aroma, and extremely sugary flavor. All malt...really nothing else. Wish there was more depth in this one...the spice is non-existent. cab (760), Denmark Oct 9, 2008 Bottle.33cl. head fades almost instantly. nice rich amber colour, belgian spices on nose, sweet malts as well. Highly carbonated. A oak aged character. Albert_campion (5), , Greater London, England does not count Oct 7, 2008 Bottle. Lord Rodney, Keighley. Dark and fruity with strong, sweet caramel on the first hit and the alcohol makes its presence felt immediately. A hint of toffee in the finish with the faintest whiff of banana. Has a real kick to it. Definately not a session beer, but very drinkable nonetheless. Svesse (1811), Hässelby, Sweden Oct 5, 2008 (Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Dark amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with caramel, dried fruit and apricots. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, candy sugar and caramel. Low bitterness, rather sweet. Decent beer, but not overly exciting.
