Pours dark copper with thick tan head. Smell is sour, yeasty and funky. Taste is malty, notes of bread, yeast and fruit. Medium body, light carbonation.

Bottle at home alone. One of them beers that was always staring at me in the shops. At last I got it and Iím glad I did. Subtle caramel and dark fruit with slight spice. Lightly sweet taste. Near full body. Pleasant.

Poured from a 750 ml bpttle a amber cloudy beer with a small white head the disappears rather fast. Aroma of yeast, malt , and toffee. Flavor of raisin, malt and brown sugar. Not a bad palate but have had better.

Nice overall, but too sweet and not enough depth for a higher rating. There are too many other Belgian strong ales (Delirium Tremens, for example) that are much better than this one.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2007 From a bottle @ BJís in Arcadia, CA, following an Orval. Served in a small tulip glass. Beautiful fine-bubbled head, excellent lacing ot of the gate. Aroma seems metallic with a fruity undertone. ??? Slightly cloudy apricot color. Sharp start, hint of metal again. Bready. Fruity-bready. A little malty sweetness. Medium bodied. Finishes with a twangy bitterness mixed with residual sweetness. Not so sure about this bottle looking at other descriptions. Coded best before 16EH. Remind self to rerate.

Not usual a fan of ambers but liked this one. Malty but still maintained good flavor and crispness. Tasting at whole foods ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle, clear amberish liquid with medium to small head. sweet malty dry, a tat bit too sweet for ale iíd say. But the special glass makes it very nice to drink (when drunk) in a bar. (only once did it splash in my face...)

hazy amber pour with thick white head; sweet malty aroma with spices. Bready taste with caramel malt, spices, and dark fruit. Well balanced finish and smooth and creamy on the palate.

I love Kwak. Itís a "set you on your bootie" strong ale. In traditional bars, Kwak is served in a unique glass similar to the "yard of ale" style. Itís dark brown with a lovely creamy head. It has a complex aroma and a very lovely mouth.
