Bottle at home alone. One of them beers that was always staring at me in the shops. At last I got it and Iím glad I did. Subtle caramel and dark fruit with slight spice. Lightly sweet taste. Near full body. Pleasant.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Nice overall, but too sweet and not enough depth for a higher rating. There are too many other Belgian strong ales (Delirium Tremens, for example) that are much better than this one.

2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2007 From a bottle @ BJís in Arcadia, CA, following an Orval. Served in a small tulip glass. Beautiful fine-bubbled head, excellent lacing ot of the gate. Aroma seems metallic with a fruity undertone. ??? Slightly cloudy apricot color. Sharp start, hint of metal again. Bready. Fruity-bready. A little malty sweetness. Medium bodied. Finishes with a twangy bitterness mixed with residual sweetness. Not so sure about this bottle looking at other descriptions. Coded best before 16EH. Remind self to rerate.

Not usual a fan of ambers but liked this one. Malty but still maintained good flavor and crispness.

bottle, clear amberish liquid with medium to small head. sweet malty dry, a tat bit too sweet for ale iíd say. But the special glass makes it very nice to drink (when drunk) in a bar. (only once did it splash in my face...)

I love Kwak. Itís a "set you on your bootie" strong ale. In traditional bars, Kwak is served in a unique glass similar to the "yard of ale" style. Itís dark brown with a lovely creamy head. It has a complex aroma and a very lovely mouth.
