3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured into the traditional mini yard glass, on tap. A finger of head comprised of largish bubbles retreated slowly to leave sparse lacing. Appearance is a nice amber with constantly streams of bubbles.
Nose is heavy with malt - sweet, slightly smoky, bananas. First taste is quite sweet with significant alcohol. Hops are floral and balance the sweetness well, especially on subsequent sips. Banana flavor is very mellow and barely noticeable.
Mouthfeel consists of significant bubbles without much aftertaste. Quite smooth. Alcohol hangs in the back of the throat.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
There’s lemon and banana on the nose, soft, sweet, slightly funky and fruity flavours in the mouth. A bit oily afterwards, and fades a bit too quickly, but quite delicious all up.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

Fruits, caramel, yeast, malts and especially sugar is the main characteristics of this beer. Nice full body and hints of alcohol. I like it alot, but i think is so sweet, more than the ususal standarts.

2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2007 From a bottle @ BJ’s in Arcadia, CA, following an Orval. Served in a small tulip glass. Beautiful fine-bubbled head, excellent lacing ot of the gate. Aroma seems metallic with a fruity undertone. ??? Slightly cloudy apricot color. Sharp start, hint of metal again. Bready. Fruity-bready. A little malty sweetness. Medium bodied. Finishes with a twangy bitterness mixed with residual sweetness. Not so sure about this bottle looking at other descriptions. Coded best before 16EH. Remind self to rerate.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Nice overall, but too sweet and not enough depth for a higher rating. There are too many other Belgian strong ales (Delirium Tremens, for example) that are much better than this one.

bottle, clear amberish liquid with medium to small head. sweet malty dry, a tat bit too sweet for ale i’d say. But the special glass makes it very nice to drink (when drunk) in a bar. (only once did it splash in my face...)
