Cloudy Brown, Malty nose. Fair chunk of toasted malt in the taste as well. Not sure I’d cal this one complex though. what you smell is pretty much what you get.

You just don’t realise the alc. content of this beautiful and tasteful belgian goddess, and that can be dangerous enough! This is definitely one of favourite belgian ales, and it is so refreshing and dry you wouldn’t believe it, and so easy to drink you’d think it was a ginger ale. Somewhat fruity in the back, but never too much, just a hint of orange, and leads your thoughts to north german pilseners. I’ve never had this from a bottle though, but do take my words for the draught version.

Belle ambrée, puissante et ronde, de beaux arômes équilibrés entre sucre, houblon et fruité. Très bonne bière apéritive.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Hazy, orangeish amber color. Malty/yeasty aroma. Its cloudy, and doesn't pour with a typical belgian head. It is balanced overall with sour notes of fruit, only a little on the hoppy side. An unusual beer in it's class. A beer I easily return to.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured into the traditional mini yard glass, on tap. A finger of head comprised of largish bubbles retreated slowly to leave sparse lacing. Appearance is a nice amber with constantly streams of bubbles.
Nose is heavy with malt - sweet, slightly smoky, bananas. First taste is quite sweet with significant alcohol. Hops are floral and balance the sweetness well, especially on subsequent sips. Banana flavor is very mellow and barely noticeable.
Mouthfeel consists of significant bubbles without much aftertaste. Quite smooth. Alcohol hangs in the back of the throat.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Howells and Hood downtown Chicago into a stumpy
Tulip glass. Excellent ruby/burnt orange color. Distinctive sweet Kwak smell
And taste linger long after the sip. Nice, sweeter Belgian than most but not overbearing. Very unique and likable. Might not be able to have more than one because of the sweetness, but that’s just me.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beer poured a copper amber color and formed a nice bubbly white head. A good amount of tiny bubble carbonation is present. An aroma of malt and cinnamon. A flavor of malt and caramel, with a decent amount of sweetness to a medium body. Slightly astrigent finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sweet, yet not cloying, and characterized by interesting notes of spices-to-be-named. Everything about this is classicly Belgian: full bouquet of yeast and spices, lovely boastful head, pretty dark ale colors and supremely drinkable. Something about those spice notes keeps me coming back.
