4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20

Dark peach color, less than a finger tight and creamy head, apples and yeasts for its aroma, warm alcoholic taste with some sweet licorice and some wheaty woody aftertaste, good lively carbonation

Karamell, bröd att få in den i detta speciella glas gjorde hela intrycket mkt bättre. Mustig och en vacker bärnstens/röd färg.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Poured in my favorite glass, the Kwak glass. Clear copper/amber with a huge head. The taste is slightly smokey, sweet and malty with a lot of caramel.

From a bottle. Pours orange with a white head. Belgian yeast and sugars in the aroma. Banana tones. Nice light malt flavors with sour yeast notes on the aftertaste.

Solid in belgian style, full bodied. Doesn’t surprise nor offend. Served in original glass doesn’t really lend to picking up the aroma

Poured from 330ml bottle into glass goblet. Beautiful clear golden-brown colour, medium off-white head that reduced very quickly. Big aroma of sugary toffee and burnt malt, some coffee and spice. Flavour is complex but dominated by caramel toffee with dark chocolate, coffee and marshmellow. Full body with medium carbonation, a little thick but the alcohol is very well hidden making this beer very drinkable. Kwak was a beer that introduced me to real flavour and complexity in beer, it doesn’t hold up as a full on favourite beer for me these days, but is still quality stuff that shows a well made big beer.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
typical belgian ale, looks better than it tastes- faintly sweet, would drink it again if I had to, but there is nothing unique about this beer = low carbonation malter sugar water

I expected more from it’s reputation among travel magazines. A below average Belgian. Minimal head with heavy sediment. Cloudy with quite a bit of sediment. I poured from this 750ml bottle into a trappist glass. The bottle was in the refrigrerator for more than a week and I poured it carefully Very sweet caramel flavor with some citrus background.
