COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Full-bodied Belgian Specialty Ale. Amber in color with beautiful foam and slightly sweet, seductive malt character. Rich, satisfying Belgian experience.

Nice, malty aroma and fruity taste. Packs quite an alcoholic kick.

I admit, I wanted this for the gimmicky glass it came in, but I still don’t know the reason/origin of the glass and base. This was rather mild for a strong ale. The Belgian yeast was there in full force - especially pungent in banana and currant. My main qualm with this was the aluminum/brassy mouthfeel and finish. It was rather distracting and definitely affected the lasting impression. I want one of those glasses though.

Fruity and malty aroma Dark herry wood, head like whipped cream, a bit gunk floating around. A bit fruit and sweet sherry, but all in all disappointing. Pretty lightbodied.

Amber, huge head on mine (not a great pour on my part) that eventually settled. Noticable alcoholy, bit of sediment in the bottle (may have been my bad pour again) Dry finish. Worth trying. The glass is cool, the beer average.

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2004 I don’t think this was bottle conditioned, althought It certainly could have done with that. Goes down pretty easy but the alcohol was pretty noticable. Good, but not up there with other Belgians. I think I may buy this again, considering that there is a boxset with that interesting glass avaliable in a local supermarket.

Pours a translucent amber with a full whipped head. The yeast they used is very low flocculating. Aromas of buiscuit malt and some, but little candi sugar. Flavor is sweet but the palate is thin. No hops whatsoever. Very one-dimensional. Alcohol is well hidden.

33 cl bottle, ’bbe’ April 07. Clear dark amber to reddish with a small, creamy beige head. Sweet and estery in the nose with some candy sugar and lots of fruit, notably quince, banana and nuts. A sweetish and fruity taste with again a touch of walnuts about it and slightly peppery hops. Smooth, flowing body with a nice, prickling carbonation. Very refreshing and drinkable for its strength.

Admittedly I was initially drawn to this thing because of the miniature yard of ale thing that it’s served in. Light brown with a nice head, not too huge. Very very sweet, far too sweet for me to drink too many of these. Bit like drinking syrup. Finish is far too overpowered by sweetness.
