Full-bodied Belgian Specialty Ale. Amber in color with beautiful foam and slightly sweet, seductive malt character. Rich, satisfying Belgian experience.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2003 An aproachable belgian beer. malty aroma, Quite malty, salty and sweet then bitter. Hints of toffee, pepper, anise, caramel, pears, apples (overipe). Actually quite pleasant, and even complex. I think the spicyness dominates it a bit too much however, and the flavours don't quite combine.

This beer has probably the most beautiful glass, but too bad it doesnt taste the same way. I expected a lot, but i came up with disappointed feeling, though it isnt a bad beer.

Off-white medium firm foam tops a limpid medium-dark amber brew with quite lively medium-fine bubbles. Discreet herb aroma. Bitter-sweet tasting foam, the beer itself sweet herby-malty taste with rather bitter ending. Medium-bodied, this beer is a bit on the sweet side, with a bitter ending, hence in my view lacking balance and individual character.

Copper/ruby red. Little if any head on this one. Definite yeasty and spicy notes in the aroma and in the taste. Very sweet, maybe a little too much so. Can definitely feel the alcohol, although it seemed to be relatively well concealed.

Famous for its glass. Malty, hoppy, something bitter.

intresting... like the name. A fairly average belgian ale (which means it’s in the top quarter of all beers).

Tastes and smells like a holiday wine. Pretty standard belgian. Has a slightly burnt aftertaste which I found refreshing and enjoyable. Once done with it I felt like it might have been a bit watery.

Not bad. I may have a bit of prejudice in favour of the Trappists when sampling a BSA, but this is a good solid beer with a lot of flavour.

Dark amber/Near brown in color with a beige head. Earthy sweet aromas. Lots of spiciness in the flavors. Finishes like an apple pie.
