Full-bodied Belgian Specialty Ale. Amber in color with beautiful foam and slightly sweet, seductive malt character. Rich, satisfying Belgian experience.

Not bad. Has a bit of butterscotch and yeast in the nose. Pours out to a cloudy amber-gold color with finely beaded white head. Starts out with some toffee-like malty sweetness and ends with a light alcohol sensation. A few light fruit and spice notes, but nothing strong.

Bottle. Amber-red with small head. Pleasently malty-sweet and fruity with alcohol in the mix. Quite drinkable, though not that memorable.

When you see this beer come on the table, the glass is a desire for the eye, but the taste of the beer is not super. So, most of the points I gave a for the presentation

Bottle 58F Trappist glass, Aroma is very floral, very sweet candi notes. A very rapidy diminishing white head, I walked away to put down the bottle I came back and the head was gone. Very light amber color and very clear. Slightly sweet malts, with just a touch of roasted malts, hint of cherry, bit of decaf coffee, finishes slightly dry, nothing very complex. It holds a very light palate. With light carbonation. It seems a bit light for a Belgian Strong, the alcohol is masked very well. Not bad but not in the same class as the Rochefort 8. Still enjoyable.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2006 750ml bottle. Pours reddish amber with a medium-sized, off-white head. Malt, nut, fruity, complex taste but I agree with the reviewer who noted that the lingering sweetness "masks the depth of the beer" and there is also a slight metallic edge at times. Still, a very interesting and drinkable ale.
