33cl bottle - poured dark brown/copper with a caramel head. Lots of fruit, yeast and spicing in the aroma. Caramel, brown sugar, bread, loads of sweet malt. Flavour is similarly yeasty with the same dominate notes of dark fruit and spice and malt. Light alcohol in the middle toward finish, but in no way overbearing. Warming. This beer is very prevalent around Brussels.

bottle at louie’s in dallas. Nice sweet malt aroma with caramel flavor and slight spice. Good beer. Paid too much for it at louie’s though.

I shared this with my parents last night, it was their first experience with a Belgian ale. My mom like it alot, dad took a little time to get into since it wasn’t Bud. He gave it a thumbs up later. Anyways, nice crystal red-amber-topaz color with elegant soft champagne like head that settles to champagne effers that remain till the end. Aroma expresses the mixed dried fruits, but has a strong dough yeast nose. Some caramel, barnyard dust and baking spices. Flavor was dominated by the yeast and less so of the other nosey flavors. Palate was creamy, again doughy, and a dry finish. Overall, a pleasant experience for everyone.

The beer behind the famous glass, I often pity the poor thing. It’s relegated to only a marginal, bit part in the eccentric history of Kwak and Belgium obsession with beer. Still worth a taste, though. Whether in the quirky but functional Kwak glass or in your standard goblet, the Krwak is a cloudy orange and ruby beer with a heavy storm of particulate matter stirred up by the pour, looking a little like the dark and lively underside of a glacier, though the top is a mere buttermilk white head, a mere 1cm and totally still. The aroma hits with a blunt cherry dum-dum flavor, or like the unique taste of Swedish Fish, with a sweet glump of orange marmalade, a gin dryness, cranberry, marachino cherry and a light grain glow. The flavor sheds most of this candied smell, making way for a grainy and slightly bitter taste of English muffins, hops and the bitter-sweet part of cranberries. This beer definitely has a Belgian signature on it, and that’s collectible in my book, and drinking it out of the approved Kwak glass only makes this beer better.

0,75l. Wonderful, fruity, cognac aroma. Beautiful dark amber, even white head. Taste spicy, sweet but subtle. Excellent kick at the end, with some sweeter fruits.
