Full-bodied Belgian Specialty Ale. Amber in color with beautiful foam and slightly sweet, seductive malt character. Rich, satisfying Belgian experience.

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2009 Bottled sampler. Rater #400 for this beer. Had just a sampler at Binny’s, so this is kind of a placeholder until I get to a whole bottle: Slightly fruity impression, with a suggestion of berries. Orangey in color, subdued spiciness. Definitely on my list.

33cl bottle@Belgian hotel bar in Kwak glass@approx 10 degrees C. Pours almost orange with off white head in the peculiar glass, which did actually do a kwak sound at the appropriate moment. Aroma of malt, caramel and dark fruit. Taste is predominantly malty and sweet, with caramel and spice kept in check by fresher, fruitier notes. Aftertaste full, malty and hoppy, signalling that this is not just a gimmick beer but a genuinly good and serious Belgian brew.

Bottle in a fish restaurant in Brussels. Amber colour etc. Full bodied taste, less sweetness than expected. It went extremely well with grilled lobster. I’ll recommend this with food.

Bottled. Clear, deep copper-red with a medium-sized, off-white head. Sweet, almost medicinal, some banana. Thick and warm in the mouth. Excellent.

Dark reddish brown colour with tiny off-white head. Aroma of bananas, plums, some spices, caramel, hops ets. The same are flavours with low bitterness, friuty aftertaste. Honestly I expected a little more complex beer, but it is still ok.

0.75L bottle forgotten in the cellar for a few years too many (3.5, according to the label), but still pretty fine and slightly carbonated. Pours unclear orange amber, no head because of the age. The aroma is strongly yeasty and fruity, with some notes of nuts, caramel, plums and dark fruits, spices, alcohol. The taste is medium sweet, light bitter. Very smooth palate, creamy, sticky.

330 mL bottle from Total Wine, Virginia Beach, VA. Brownish-orange pour with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of Belgian candi sugar, toffee, and dark fruit. Taste is malt-forward and sweet yet subtle and smooth complementing the fruity notes. This is a great, classic Belgian ale.

Fine vanilla coloured smooth head, near clear honey amber body, no real lacing. Sweet aroma of wheat malts with spices as coriander and clove, big floral bouquet, honey pollen notes. Tastes wheat malts, coriander, clove, honey, caramel, raisin, syrup, stuff of fruits, notes of butterscotch. Soft in the mouth, smooth carbonation. Fruity finish, belgian blended smooth delicious...
