Zarkam (338) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 6, 2014
330ml bottle from a supermarket in Tel-Aviv, hazy dark yellow colour, small mostly vanishing rocky white head, little lacing. Moderately malty aroma of cereal, caramel and raisins, moderate floral and citric hops with a hint of butterscotch and dough. Taste is initially moderately sweet, slightly acidic and bitter, turning into a moderately bitter longish finish with a moderately astringent feel. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation. Not quite what I was expecting, reminded me a bit more of kellerbier than a pils. Quite pleasant and balanced nonetheless.

Bottle. Clear golden-orange with a huge stable white head. Aroma of caramel and citric hops. Taste - malty with moderate sweetness, caramel, light fruity notes, mild hoppy bitterness. Light-bodied and easy to drink. Decent, though not really a pilsener.

Bottle. Aroma is hoppy, fruity hops. A bit tempting. Taste is fine enough. Light hoppy flavour, balanced with somewhat sugary maltiness. Drinkable, good enough.

Bottle in Tel Aviv, July 2013. A bit hazy golden with a medium white head. Nothing special with this one. Malt, some notes of paper, grass and some herbs. Actually quite boring.

Odd, I feel more like I’m drinking a hefe than a pils. Pours a slight cloudy dark gold color. Slight spicy clove and banana aroma. The spicy clove carries over to the flavor finishing with a slight dry fruity aftertaste with med/high carbonation. Overall, not what I expected, which is an international macro lager. But at least it’s tasty. Thanks to Dandman629 for the hookup from Israel. Edit: after reading the description for the Pavo Hefe, I really think that I got a bottle of hefewiesen with a Pils label on it.

Tap sample at the brewery. Almost clear golden color with a small white creamy head. Floral hop aroma with some slight fruitiness. Bready malt flavors, with a touch of light fruit and low bitterness. Light bodied, soft carbonation and a bit strange for a pils. Feels more like a Kolsch.
