COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This American Style Pale Ale carries tropical citrus notes and announces itself first with a golden color and wonderful aroma. The addition of Amarillo and Cascade hops along with a hefty dose of pale malt gives this Pale Ale a robust full flavor and fantastic aroma that is sure to please. Being malt forward allows for a well balanced experience.

Bottle pour. Hazy wheat color. Small, foaming head. Juicy nose. Tropic fruit. Dusty grain. Fresh. Taste pulls back, a little. Pleasant bitterness. Touch of sweetness on finish. Solid.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly hazy orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, melon, citrus peel, light pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate bready malt sweetness; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, and lightly creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice American pale ale. All around good complexity, balance, and robustness of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate bready malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

KUA bottle. Pours a dark tan, murky in color. Aroma is rich, with ripe strawberry and papaya. Taste starts grassy, earthy, then ripe melon in the finish. Becomes thin, watery after a few sips. Hard to see how this is a pale ale color and taste-wise.

Aroma of lemon starburst. Appears clear yellow with a light ring of white foam. Taste is overwhelming sweet lemon with a touch of bitter rind. Palate, fizzy and nice. Overall, decent.

Tap. Dark gold. Lingering head, lace. Vaguely weedish nose. Citrus brightness, herby weedness and some stable hopness.

Bottle from trade with Cbuk1013. Pours light gold with thin white head. Aroma is peanuts, hay, grass. Earthy, nutty taste with smooth hop bitterness.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy and dingy gold with little head and aromas of pineapple, grapefruit and a little honey biscuit. Flavor is sharply hoppy with a kind of grain dust malt presence that gets in the way. That said, the initial blast of grapefruit (not sure where the Amarillo is hiding in the flavor) is nicely executed.

12 oz. bottle labeled K.U.A. Pours a burnt orange color. Aroma of caramel, mild citrus and pine hops. Flavor is bitter. Somewhat uninteresting. Some average citrus and caramel notes are hanging around. Otherwise, somewhat boring. I feel like the malt profile is there but there’s something stale about the hops. Medium bodied. Meh.

Onslow (1151) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - AUG 23, 2013
Pour from a 12oz bottle, six pack from West Main Party store in Kalamazoo. Clear amber brew with off white head. Great hoppy aroma - cirtus, tropical fruit. Taste is pleasant sweet malts at the start, decent citrus and resinous hops midway and a final flourish of fabulous citrus and tropical fruit in the end, clean finish with aromatic hops and very light sweetness. Full bodied but agile. Most impressive.
